J.C. Jays

Youtube under JCHS Athletics.
Thanks. I got to watch most of it. J. C. got whipped up front on both sides of the ball and then made up for it by being slow. They have 24 seniors, 9 juniors and a slightly more sophomores on the roster. It looks like a long, long rebuild for someone. As I said long ago on another thread, Helias will probably end up being the best team in Jeff or at least great parity with the three teams.

If you're including just the teams in Jeff City then Helias is the best. If you add Blair Oaks since they're right on the doorsteps of Jeff City, then Blair Oaks is the best team.

Agreed BO is the best team, even though according to Pigskin Preview JC has the best player in the region.

JC is still trying to recover from the devastation left by the 2 previous head coaches, who won a total of only 15 games in the last 4 years (6-5, 3-7, 4-6, 2-8). Complete mismanagement since 2016. They have not had a 10+ win season since 1999! I hope Coach Bailey can fix it but it will take time to undo all the damage from the last 4 years.

Oh here we go again lol the doom and gloom ignorance of Laguna. You know I would actually respect you and maybe take you serious if you didn't hate all the time. Like actual back up your opinion with all of the facts, not just pick and choose the ones the fit your narrative. When you hate all the time, you just sound ignorant. You belong on mainstream media spewing all that B.S. that comes out of your mouth lol
Don't worry I'm sure you will be hating on Coach Bailey before too long. Hopefully other people at Jeff City will give Coach Bailey a chance, because I know you won't. Prove me wrong.

Where is the hate? Can you deny any facts I stated? 15 wins in 4 years is considered successful? No 10 win seasons for this program in 20 years is successful? I think you just don't want to face the facts that neither one of the last 2 coaches could consistently win at the Class 6 level. That's not hate. It is stating fact. They are good at what they do at the Class 3 level and I applaud that. But don't tell me that 15 wins in 4 years and no 10 win seasons in 20 years for one of the then-largest schools in the state is considered successful. You are delusional if you believe that.

Coach LePage consistently won at the Class 6 level, he literally had one true bad season. You take his last year out and his other 11 seasons he won almost 70% of his games there, playing one of the toughest schedules in the state year in and year out. Can you honestly tell me Jeff City had the talent that Rockhurst, CBC, Blue Springs, Blue Springs South, Desmet, those types of schools had? On a consistent basis? I sure as heck never saw that, and anyone with common sense would say the same thing. Can you honestly tell me that talent doesn't matter? Look at the amount of Division 1 and Division 2 talent those teams have on a yearly basis, Jeff City doesn't have that. In the 12 seasons LePage was at Jeff City, they were right along those teams I just mentioned when it came to wins. So are you saying those programs aren't successful? Or do you just measure success based on state titles? And I will swear by this, if he had the talent those teams had over the years, he would have won some state titles.

Another fact Coach LePage in the 12 years he was there had the 5th most wins of any class 6 coach, so let me ask you, is that not success at the class 6 level? Because if it's not, I would sure like to know what the hell success is to you. Because to me success is based on a lot of different measures and hard to measure equally at every school. You act like he consistently had losing seasons and that he couldn't coach a lick, which once again if you have any common sense would know that's not true. I'm not saying that he was the most successful coach or an extremely successful coach at the class 6 level. Fact is he was able to be successful with what he had to work with, and to say he wasn't successful at all is completely ignorant and delusional on your part.

I also call you a hater because if you go back and look at your past posts, you do nothing but bash Coach LePage or bash the program in general.
So once again I say how about you talk about all the facts and not pick and choose.

So why just go back 4 years? Why not 5? Maybe because the 2015 team was a 9-2 team, with their only losses coming from CBC the state runner ups, and Blue Springs South the undefeated state champs. Now answer me this, how can a coach who is so bad of a coach as you have stated so many times, have that good of a team? Luck I guess? It also points out how tough it is to win in class 6 when you're an 8-1 team who ends up the 3 seed in districts behind 2 undefeated teams ahead of you. Then get matched up with the eventually undefeated state champs in the 2nd round of districts.
Let me point out that that was one of Coach LePage's best teams, and most talented teams, if not most talented team.
Here was the talent they had
QB - Indiana State
RB/DB - Signed with Illinois State but never made it there because of issues with the law.
WR/DB- UTEP
Then 1 or 2 D2 type players.
They did have a few NAIA/D3 type players as well.

So I'll give you the argument that they had some pretty good talent for class 6 that year even though they had an O-line that was average at best and averaged 215 pounds (which is small for class 6). They lacked overall talent with their O-Line, D-Line and Linebackers, which created their biggest weaknesses for that team. Let me remind you, this was easily one of the most talented teams (maybe most talented) he had in his 12 years. But I ask, how many of the teams that have won state titles in class 6 in the last 20 years had that kind of talent. The fact is they don't have that kind of talent, those teams had better talent. CBC, Rockhurst, Blue Springs, Blue Springs South, Kirkwood, Desmet, Hazelwood Central the teams who were those state champions. Most of them would have 5,6,7,8 heck even 9 or 10 Division 1 type players with several D2 players mixed in as well. It's hard to beat those types of teams on a consistent basis every year, when one of your most talented, if not the most talented team never had that type of talent. Coaching can only take you so far, you have to have the Jimmy and Joe's to take you all the way though.

Ill be honest with ya Gameday, this is too much reading. The best posts on MoSports are short, simple, and sweet. Put your overall/main point at the top. Then list all the gritty details below. That way, everyone can get your main point and move on. Those who like gritty details can read on.

Lets see both previous coaches won at a high level prior to going to JC, and LePage won at a consistent level at JC. He also is winning at high level at BO again, so you really think it is a coaching issue? Get a grip, you are clueless.

Bosko downs 3 beverages by the end of those posts Gameday. That is why he has trouble with those!

There really ought to be a “no bitching rule” until season three.

Whatever Coach Bailey wants to instill, it’s going to be new to the kids. The execution, the way practice is run. Terminology. Everything.

Right now, many (if not most) of the players are having to pause and think about every call, every play. It’s not automatic yet. It takes time to instill this in the kids. Period.

Bring in Vince Lombardi’s ghost? Same. Nick Saban? Same.

Anyone spouting off after 1 game in season 1 is putting their ignorance on display.
Concur. High schools split, covid crap, new system, average talent. Guy hasn’t even been able to recruit the hallways. Mountains to climb. Let him figure it out.

It’ll take until next season...maybe until 2022...before Bailey’s mark can really be seen by the casual observer. That’s the players AND the staff. It takes time and experience working together for them to gel, too.

It ought to be fun to watch, really.
I agree with this. I’m curious if the style/system can work there. And if they give Bailey the time and resources, we’ll soon know. Soon being relative. Can’t imagine there’s anyone out there better suited to Coach it, no matter the level.

Give him time. He's going to figure out what talent he has to work with and build the program to take advantage of that, while trying to mine any talent that is walking the halls or coming up. There are kids on that team, right now, that don't even realize the history and success that Jeff City had. Lot's of building to do on many aspects.
