They're trying to appeal to a wider audience regardless of alienating the current one. I don't care what form of media carries the game, but I like to see regional rivalries, I'm not just in it to watch the 50 best teams. I love watching Army, Georgia Southern, New Mexico, etc. But then again, I love the game of football, not just the spectacle of a "big game".
