408 high school's have participated in the MSHSAA playoff system from 1968 thru 2016 trying to win a state football championship. Only 116 of those high school's have won titles in that time.

This includes 11-man and 8-man football.

The Small COC only has one state title winner to my knowledge (Hint: It's not Bolivar :D)

...I could be wrong (thinking Catholic might have at least one...)

MRVC West has 9 State titles.
Harrisonville 2003, 2005, 2005, 2007, 2016
Excelsior Springs 1994, 1996
Odessa 1994
Oak Grove 2014

The Old Midwest Conference, which has teams in two or three different conferences now, had several titles in the 1970s through the early 1990s. Lockwood, Greenfield, Greenwood, Miller, and Jasper all won Class 1A titles. Stockton, who was in 2A, made it to the semifinals 3 or 4 times during that stretch as well. It was a solid small school conference. Usually had to run through the WEMO in 1A and Lexington or old Big 8 teams in 2A.

...and Marionville.

Look up another statistic. How many teams have won a state championship from the bottom 35-50% of their class in terms of enrollment? Harrisonville this year is one I can think of but typically the teams that win a championship is from the upper half to 25% of class enrollment.

Maryville's 3 titles in Class 3 they toward the bottom of enrollment. 4th title was when they dropped to class 2 for four years 06-09 i believe.

How many teams have TIED for a state title?
I know Valle and KC St Pius tied 0-0 for the 2A title in 1981.

Pretty sure Marshall and Camdenton tied for another...and perhaps John Burroughs and Lexington for a third?

Anybody know for sure?

As long as we are challenging the database with some deeper combinations, how many teams have defeated an undefeated opponent in the final game of the post season, while winning a sixth title in a row, and after losing their starting center AND backup center less than two weeks before the championship, and their regular season included victories over a same season State champion and a multi-year state champion from the past?

Don't forget they stopped the longest winning streak in the nation at the time(11 man football). And also, they beat 6 former state champions during the year scoring 49 or more points against each of them.

Orrick won back to back titles as one of the smallest class 1 schools.

Orrick official enrollment in 2007 was 140, tied for being the 8th smallest in Class 1. In 2008 their official enrollment was 134 and tied for 7th smallest.

Since you started it with the Bolivar reference....

I wonder what LogRog would have done that year against Webb? Seeing as how LR was one of the biggest in Class 3 and Bolivar (not much bigger) is one of the smaller Class 4 teams.

How many teams won a state title in one class then went up a class the following year and won that state title?

That's a very interesting question. I think Lamar could have certainly done it in recent history. Maryville is the only school I can think of that might have.

I knew Penney had...lol...but I wasn't for sure if any other school had done it since Penney. I knew when Penney did it, it was broadcasted as being the only school in Missouri to have ever done that. So, I was asking if it had been done since then...

I know for a fact that Camdenton/Marshall tied 20-20 in the 1986 game at Arrowhead.

Hopefully the players had fun and got some good exercise. That's all that really matters. And helped each other up and stuff. And fans from both sides said nice things to each other in line at the concession stand.
