Chuck Grassley has covid. HE IS 87 YEARS OLD.
DIane Feinstein is 87. Pelosi is 80. Steny Hoyer is 81. Moscow Mitch is 78. The list goes on and on. What other industry allows people this far beyond their prime to stay in power? ANSWER: none.

No board of directors of any publicly traded Corp would allow this insanity. For good reason. If we aren’t going to have term limits we need to at least have mandatory retirement ages. This is ridiculous.

Most everyone agrees with your post however Americans can not get the above on the ballot for a national vote since the Senate and House make the rules. I believe this would pass in the 70-80% range if it was on the ballot.

Yes let’s start euthanasia for everyone over 70 !!!

I agree, and I don't think many would argue that this is ridiculous these people have spent so much time in Washington they are totally out of touch with what normal people face every day.

I think we need a total for years of service, You got say 30 years after that your time is up in Washington. Come on we just elected a president who spent 47 years in Congress and he swears now he knows how to fix things.

So if you spent 30 years in congress your time is up you cannot run for President or the house you must retire. If you have 25 years of service in Congress you got one term for president. No more lifelong politicians.

I would honestly agree but good luck getting that through Congress.

On the flip side why should anyone tell you as a voter who you can cast your vote for to represent you in our government

Your not it is not in thier best interest.

See that is why while I support term limits, I don't know if that is the best way to go. That is why I support more of a so many year approach and I think 30 years is pretty good. If you get elected at age 40 that means you have until 70. I think 30 years in our government is long enough.

I agree, but we keep electing them. Seniority carries a lot of clout in Congress, as well as name recognition to voters and donors.

All for naught - Congress will never pass any legislation concerning limits on years serving.

The Supreme Court lifetime appointment bothers me. When the US Constitution was written, the average life expectancy was 38 years (although most people who survived to 60 years old would survive until at least 75 years old). No one could imagine a Justice serving 30-40 yrs. I get the idea is so they won't be influenced by party politics or a rubber stamp for the majority of popular opinion, but free to rule on their interpretation of the laws and justice for all. I don't know how many elderly in their 80s are up to the job mentally and physically. I know some still as sharp as a tack. Others not so much.

Also for naught.

Seen any 87 year old refs doing games this year?
Name me an 87 year old CEO of a Fortune 500 company. Any surgeons you know who are 87?
It’s freakin absurd. And to have 80 year olds still in leadership positions in Congress means that we don’t really have control. Because in Missouri we can’t vote out Pelosi or McConnell or Schumer.

Oh I agree, you're just not going to find any politicians supporting term or age limits. Heck, STL Post article today said Jeff City elected officials are about to get a raise. Parson's salary will go to $140,000. I thought the governor made more than that.
