Honestly no surprise here especially after Prep's top player (they were already down their #2) got nicked up late in the first quarter. The dynasty rolls on...................congrats again to Lincoln CP for a great run!

Nobody recruits better than IWA! Primarily because most aren't allowed to, but still.
You’re correct in saying most aren’t allowed to, but ignore that some in the disallowed group do just that.

Agree that kids want to be there, but they still offer scholarships to attend their private school. That's the definition of sports recruiting. They are one of the only private schools in north STL, and they have an outstanding "feeder/aau" program that parents are willing to spend thousands of dollars from second grade through high school in hopes of being accepted into the basketball program (notice I said not the school). This does not happen in public schools, so yes this sets up a huge advantage for IWA.

I don't know exactly how things work at IWA, or any other private school, but I'm pretty sure they give scholarships for things outside of sports too. It's expensive for kids to go there that are scholars, not just athletes, and those schools want high level academics too.

That may be true, but the very fact that we're talking about scholarships means they have an advantage. Public schools and their coaches aren't even allowed to buy a kid McDonald's if they don't have money after a road game. That's a mshsaa violation.

I have no argument about the advantage private schools have but it ain't much different than what St. Louis or Springfield public schools have and I stand by my statement that they also give academic scholarships at privates. I also still say most players are 'recruited' to other schools by players, and or parents, they have played summer ball with or they have friends at another school and think they can all get together and make a better team. I'm sure 'some' coaches get in on it too but that's pretty risky.

True but IWA has its own AAU team. It can recruit players for that and then let the players and parents go to work “recruiting”.

I'm sure IWA and all other private schools are giving the same amount of scholarship money to their Science Fair and Spelling Bee winners as all of their athletes.
