Have heard rumblings about the clubhouse stuff. We'll see if it matters. I'm not much on it. Probably why I don't dig MM the way others do...Ironic part of the article. The same guy that refused to rest regulars during the dog days of the season, talking about the importance of limiting reps in ST. Jesus.

Having to have meetings to alter behavior/comraderie is not a good sign for any team at any level.

Mid to late 80s Mets...I'm just not a big believer in the clubhouse crap. You think the Giants clubhouse was a grand place to be with Kent and Bonds? A's during their run with Ricky and Canseco? Hugely overblown in professional sports, imho. But, as you said, not a good sign. Just not sure it's a bad one. I'm more worried about the dude that thinks holding guys out of reps in ST has anything to do with their stamina down the stretch. Who is also the same guy that refused to give regulars rest last season.

Try the 1977 New York Yankees (Billy Martin vs. Reggie Jackson on national TV) on for size. Much worse clubhouse atmosphere in the Bronx that summer and those of us old enough to remember witnessed that same team beat easily KC's best (don't care what George Brett said at the rally last November) team of all time enroute to the World Championship.

The two teams you guys pointed out were loaded with power and pitching. Come on man. You forgot the 72-74 A's.
