Impeachment

Senate prosecuting lawyers are making a convincing case for a guilty vote. The timeline they painted with Trump's own words of the events of the past 6 months leads straight to the Capitol riot. The newly released video was ghastly. That poor cop that was stuck between a double door with people pushing the doors shut was fighting for his life.

One of the Proud Boys is claiming his defense is he was acting on direct orders from his commander in chief!!

That one was not new, I saw that in the first day or two, I even thought he was the cop that died but I saw him on tv a while back and he said he's ok. Sure did look bad at the time.

I actually think the house manager are doing a very good job especially in putting Trumps tweets with what was going on. The one that got me was when they said Trump was calling Tuberville as the Senate was being evacuated, requesting that he still drag this out.

So now we have 3 senators, who are jurors in this impeachment trial, meeting with Trump's defense lawyers to talk strategy?!!! These guys took an oath to be impartial jurors and they pull this? It's a crazy world we live in when this can happen and Cruz said what they were doing for all to know. Seems to me Cruz, Lee and Graham should all be disqualified from this trial and censured by the senate when this over! I heard several time today that there was as many 15 republicans not even in the chambers while the House managers were presenting their case and other were paying n o attention to what was going on the room. I thought they were ALL required to be in their seats during and impeachment trial.

Hawley blatantly had his feet on his desk and reading during the testimony, totally oblivious to the impeachment trial.

They should kick out anybody that does that. Very disrespectful fo the chamber anytime much less during an impeachment trial. The oath they take means nothing to guys like him, all they want to do is let Trump see them doing crap like that so he knows they're on his side.

From USA Today in an article implying that Cruz and Hawley were also guilty of fanning the flames.

There is a Latin phrase — "nemo iudex in causa sua" — that has been a foundational legal principle for centuries. It directs that “no one is judge in his own cause.”

Similarly, in the case of the sham Trump impeachment trial, no one should be a juror in their own cause, either.

The thing that really bothers me right now is how all the pubs all over the country are making comparisons to what they believe is happening to them, to what happened to the Jews during the early stages of of the Nazis taking over Germany? I am like what no way did you just say that.....I just don't understand how tone death most of them are now and how blindly they are willing to follow Trump, if he walked off a cliff many would follow!
I cannot lie I voted for Trump this round I didn't the first time but this time I felt he was the better option. I just cannot embrace the many things the Dems believe and do, not totally against everything but some just don't seem all that smart. Now I didn't think Trump was doing a great job, just liked more of his policies versus Biden... However he lost and I was willing to live with that no biggy, thinking hey in four years we can see what happens. I really didn't even think much about stop the steal in the beginning, I thought hey let Trump whine...but the more Trump went on the more I could tell he didn't care about the country or the truth...he just cared more about himself and his own ego. I always knew he was a bit egotistico and really more about himself than the the country. But as the power transfer got closer I could see Trump was willing to tear this country and us apart just to stay in power! And he would have gladly let those people in the capital be killed if it would have meant he got to stay in power, and that is scary to me!

Still not a Dem...but I will never bend down on one knee for another human.. and right now to call yourself a Pub or to be considered one you basically have to bend over for Trump and let him have his way with you or you will be considered a trader. That is not how I was raised and that is not how I believe, no one man or organization is greater than me or anybody or this Country! I believe Trump is guilty end of story. But let the pubs live with it I think they will regret the path they are going down.

Very well put, bullit. I am in 100% agreement except for I saw Biden as the lesser of 2 evils in the election. I lean more independent and moderate than the Dem platform.

I think there is a split in both parties. Now is the perfect time for a moderate third party. That is the only way we can end the stagnate in Congress and tribalism.

I was undecided up until election day, I really didn't know how I was going to vote even as I stood inline. To be honest I probable leaned more towards Trump but in the end it would not have mattered because well you knew Missouri in the end was going to go with Trump. That is what I hate about EC, my vote really doesn't count, but I still VOTE!!

I don't belong to a party I lean more conservative moderate. However the moderate Dems use to be on the same side as many of Trump's polices that I like, immigration, China, jobs. But since that was his stance many of them refuse to support it now.

I wish they would not have rushed it. I would like to see everything in one place. All the evidence from all over the country. All the testimony. I think the report could be a lot more damming than the trial.

Do you think they rushed it just a bit hoping it would still be fresh in the minds of those who lived it? I think if you would have taken a straw vote the night it happened you would have seen many Pubs agree he was the reason it happened.

Also how can lawyers get away with blatantly threatening the the Jurors? To me if I was a Republican it would have been enough evidence in my mind to realize Trump knew he was guilty and his lawyers knew it too.

Castor said, “If members of Congress wouldn’t fight for the principles they held dear, what was it that the president specifically told his supporters at that rally he wanted them to do? He wanted them to support primary challenges. Now, nobody in this chamber is anxious to have a primary challenge. That is one truism I think I can say with some certainty. But that’s the way we operate in this country.”

Trump’s lawyer was making sure that enough Republicans know the consequences that will follow if they were to follow the evidence and vote to convict the former president.
