While I do agree that he could use this prime opportunity to be a good role model and show kids how to act, I do agree with his defiance of the rules that are stupid. If an athlete does not want to speak with the media, he shouldn't be forced to. The media getting an interview or asking whatever burning question they have should be something they get if the athlete feels like talking, not a requirement.Originally posted by oldroundballer:
Think he's getting fined for wearing a hat with his beast mode logo or something like that. Unapproved advertising. He knows the rules on that and just basically said I don't care.
Rodney Harrison had a good point I thought on Dan Patrick yesterday. Basically said Lynch should be using the platform afforded him to be a positive role model instead of just acting like he can do whatever he wants and mocking the rules that he signed up for. Said he's not setting a good example for the black kids who look up to him.
Aren't there a lot of stupid rules? That being said, it's part of life.Originally posted by shoot90draw:

Yes a lot of rules are stupid and are apart of life, but what is one way to change that? Defiance! America was born on Defiance!Originally posted by SadButTrue:

"WHY does so many have such issue with following the rules of your employer"Originally posted by runbillyrun:
You guys just DO NOT GET IT do you??? He signed a contract, there are rules within that contract. IF you teach and that school says to wear "Business casual dress & be here at 7:45" then you Do NOT, you ars can be & should be fired.
WHY does so many have such issue with following the rules of your employer?
They never seem to have an anxiety disorder when a camera is in their face any other time. And he he truly has an anxiety disorder he would have difficulty doing his 7 word response to all questions. Is the media over the top yes, but it isn't anything new. I didn't think CNN would ever leave Ferguson.Originally posted by hangmanbobbyjaggers:
What if the man has an anxiety disorder about getting in front of all the cameras and does not want that to be public knowledge? I think it is silly for the players to have to answer to the media. It is always twisted in some negative way no matter the case to make better head lines! They have coaches, GM's and owners who can talk with the media. If I am the players association I would look into it.
Well if you weren't such a mouthy little leprechaun I would consider a serious response. The facts are, he showed up and gave an answer to their questions. The NFL can piss and moan all they want, he did his part. Unless they are going to start scripting the players responses? It's just another example of the NFL being butt hurt over a player giving them the finger.Originally posted by runbillyrun:
Just like you dip shot, Change the subject and make it personal. However that does Not change the facts.
Part of me agrees there are a lot of stupid rules. However like you said he knew about the rules when he signed. If he wanted to make a statement or a defiance move then not signing would have been he best chance. There are a lot of people who would be more than willing to make what he makes and do what he does and also talk to the media. He made a conscious decision to play for the NFL knowing the rules so he needs to man up and honor them or not cash the paychecks.Originally posted by shoot90draw:
While I do not think he has an anxiety disorder, he just doesn't agree with some of the rules. While yes, he knew about these rules when signed on the dotted line, he has the right to try and change them. Defiance might not be the BEST route but its his choice. I personally would only want to talk to the media when I chose to. Players should not be required to talk to anyone unless they feel the need to.
Personally I don't care what he does not a big NFL watcher just for this reason. Just a bunch of big million dollar babies. However to me it is about principle and doing what you agreed to do in the contract. Let's say you sign a contract to remodel your home and after it gets done you find out that they did not put in insulation because they do not agree it works and think it is just stupid to do it. Now you find out this guy has continued to do it forever has ripped many people off for years but all the government does is fine him. Don't you think at some point his license should be suspended for not honoring his contract. What makes football any different, yes you are right 90% of the questions are stupid who gives a rat about them not denying that. But that is not the point, the point is he agreed to do it when he signed the contract it is not like this was some secret that he did not know about and is protesting that, he knew he is just refusing, so be a man suck it up and answer a few stupid questions and go about your life.
lol So the guy is a million dollar baby because he doesn't like the media? Good grief. If only I was blessed to have his face time in the media so I could write my $20,000 check to tell goodell and the media to shove it up their rears. The dude is honoring his contract. He sat there today and told them exactly how it is. Gave them more than he has all week. Yet you still have the whiny sports writers blowing up twitter ripping him.Originally posted by bullitpdq68:

I think we both agree on one thing the media is blowing this up for sure it is stupid however stupid on both sides. Funny how the NFL and a football player can get this much attention for not talking but our politicians always seem to get a free pass....Originally posted by Drop.Tine:

This whole "he signed a contract" thing is correct. He signed a contract knowing he would face the media for PLAYING FOOTBALL. He's made up his mind on how he's going to handle that.
Agreed. He signed up to play football. I still stand with him not wanting to talk to the media and not wanting to follow rules he disagrees with. On the subject of him being fined, which he is not for repeating the same answer, but for his "Beast Mode" slogan on his hat. Would he have been fined for that IF he talked to the media and answered all of their questions? If that was actually against the rules, he should have been fined either way...Originally posted by Drop.Tine:

I think if you sign a contract that says you must be accessible to the media you best plan on being accessible to the media as per your agreement to your employer.Originally posted by Thunder_right:
