Alabama linebacker Mekhi Brown appeared to go after an assistant coach on the sidelines during the College Football Playoff national championship on Monday night.

With Georgia leading Alabama, 20-10, Brown was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct after he appears to throw a punch.

The flag resulted in a Georgia first down.

Alabama coach Nick Saban chewed him out on the sideline, and then it appears an assistant coach tried to get a word in when Brown lost his temper.

Brown appeared to go after Kerry Stevenson, director of player development, while Ellis Ponder, director of football operations, stepped in. Alabama linebacker Keith Holcombe flexed his muscle, pulling Brown away.

"I really felt like a jerk," Brown told Yahoo Sports in the Alabama locker room. "That's not how I am. I wanted to win, that's what it was. I did something stupid. I could have cost us the game."

He remained in the game, making a huge tackle on kick coverage with Georgia leading 20-10 with just more than nine minutes left in the game.

Every time someone loses their cool we should immediately give up on them. There is no need to try to work with kids to help them improve themselves. To the pit of misery!!!!

Good Lord he isn't a kid he is a grown man. By the tie me my dad was his age he had picked up an M1 Garand and fought his way across Europe and was back in New York .

72 years ago come friday he was marching in the VE Day parade with his 82nd Airborne Division and he was still not 20 years old. A true "All American" as the 82nd was called

You treat young men like children they will act like children, and that's what you have right there.

Compare his conduct to the conduct of the young Alabama QB after the game where he was nothing but humble. Which guy do you want representing your community ??

Well, now we know who YOU voted for.

Politics has nothing to do with it.
Good teachers dont immediately just punish people for every offense. Do you know what words the assistant coach said to him? His background? Whether he has ever done this before? No. You dont.
He might be the best kid on the team

Guess i wouldnt have many people left to play football with. Its an emotional game and he made a mistake. Happens all the time and players think about it even more
He went after a coach! I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen that in a game I was watching (and I’ve watched a lot of games )

Saying that players who assault coaches should be kicked off the team makes us “tough guys”?

He took a poke at a coach. Before that, he was stalking Saban. He will do it again, boot him.

Im just saying in 4 years that there was a hand full of times that i wanted to take a swing at my coaches. Was smart enough not to but it doesnt suprise me or bother me that it happened

If a player that punches a coach is the best kid on the team, that team has huge problems.
Myself not knowing the team members might assume the player pulling him away might have a little better head on his shoulders. JMO
