putting up the numbers he did last year. In fact I DID get depressed every time I saw his name on the lineup card.
This whole piece feels like a Matheny hit job to me. Mike was trying to win games to keep his job. Was he supposed to just keep running him out there every day even though there were better options on the bench? Part of me really hopes he turns it around this year because we're going to need production from that spot. But a small part of me wouldn't mind seeing him flop again just to prove it wasn't anyone but himself that caused his issues. Why couldn't he just keep his mouth shut and use that chip on his shoulder to come back and prove people wrong!
And the whole Winter Warmup thing is just more typical Fowler. He wasn't going to show up, for the 3rd year in a row, until he saw the backlash it was creating. Then all of the sudden his plans change and he's going to be there. Almost like he's doing Card's fans a favor. Dexter is a lot more about image than anything else.
And one more thing while I'm at it. What the heck is he doing going back to Chicago for an autograph session as a Cub World Series Champion? Is the money the Card's are paying him not enough? That's crap. It might possibly be different if it wasn't the arch rival. He wonders why Card's fans aren't all in on him. Why should they be when he's not all in on the Cards.
Whew..... I feel better now. Thanks for listening.
