Edwin signs for $20 mil / year.
Mo is ball less. He chose profits over a chance to win now.

And he isn't going to sign any big name next year or in 2018. so don't go there.
He wasn't asking for five years or $100 mil. !@#$ /?+& $%&+

I would pay $5000 to face Mo in a boxing or MMA ring.

I normally don't sharpen the pitchfork over stuff like this. But sheesh, this is just dumb. If the Birds could've had him for similar money, plain stupid to not have done it.

I'm just going to put this out there and play devil's advocate here for a second, but did anyone happen to see anything from EE that said he would have even wanted to play in the NL? He knows his value is primarily as a DH and that's where he can maximize his potential and keep the wear and tear to a minimum to prolong his career. Like I said, it's just a thought.

You can try to put ear rings on a pig but you still got yourself a dirty, stinking, nasty pig.
Mo sucks. Three years wouldn't have tied our hands. I'm ready to enter the ring and I'm willing to pay my own money.

We are paying 30 mil to Chuck 36 and 2/3 Cecil. Jeez Louise.

Just a thought... it appears that the Tribe is going to let Mike Napoli walk. He would look good at 1st base for you and would probably settle for less $$$.

My man, I'm not disagreeing that for the price it looks great and would have been solid for the birds. However, I'm genuinely curious on whether or not he wanted to come to the NL. If he was open to it, then yeah, Cards should have probably ponied that up. Otherwise, he might be doing what he feels is best for him.

It was always a dream and I think this is what we have for the season. I don't see enough improvement to think we will be a 90+win team, I'm guessing 86 to 88 if things stay as they are.

We have less depth than we had before.
We are an outfield injury away from being in a bad situation. Our infield defense improvement depends on playing Wong more and hoping everyone else magically gets better. Uggggh

It's HIGHLY likely he had absolutely no interest in playing for STL, unless they overpaid. Can't blame him. Like you said, he is guaranteed to have plenty of time at DH and Cleveland is primed for another deep playoff run. It was a perfect fit for him

Duck have to assume you're mad at the wrong guy. Mo does not control the purse strings, all he can do is try to defend the decisions he makes and take the hit for the owners not allowing him to spend a more $$$. Most folks want to keep their job, I reckon he is no different.

I don't know if Wong will be any better, or even if he can be, but I do think our SS stop can and will improve defensively. Most of his errors came pretty early and many of them were throwing errors, not booting ground balls. I know his bat and base running ability needs to be in the lineup if he can repeat what he was doing last year. I still think starting pitching could be a much bigger issue than any of the other stuff. I hope 5 of the 6 or 7 options we have there can git er done.

That was a pretty good deal if you could get it, although I agree with the above that we'd have had to pay a little more since we don't have a DH.

I am not at all on the Napoli bandwagon, his contact rate has trended too low and he can't run or play defense hardly at all with that hip. I'd much rather take a flyer on Bautista.
