Hillary lied.....about things of national importance.
Carsons story, of an offer to attend west point, can't be verified as true or false. This is hardly a matter of national importance and his story makes sense. He was the top scorer in his ROTC and says General Westmoreland told him if he applied he was in. What part of that if known to be even a stretch of the truth?

No, he didn't. Colleges don't offer scholarships to students that don't apply. Even athletic scholarships are contingent on application.
And yes, West Point does not offer scholarships, which makes carson's story even more BS.

All attendees at West Point go free. If offered a chance to go it is scholarship.....free. Carson said Westmoreland said he could go. Any evidence that didn't happen? Carson said he declined and went to Yale. Any evidence that didn't happen?

Cow what planet are you from? Coaches OFFER scholarships all the time, THEN if a kid wants to go there he or she applies. Heck coaches offer to kids that are not anywhere near their there senior year these days.
Coaches can "offer" scholarships, but it's just that, a verbal offer. There's no promise that the school will honor that scholarship. The school (the entity on the hook for scholarships) only offers scholarships to athletes that apply and are accepted. A coach can offer all the scholarships he/she wants, but they have 0 say whether or not the school honors that verbal scholarship.
My god. The guy did not apply to West Point. No general can hand out scholarships to West Point. Carson even admits he never even applied to West Point and he "doesn't remember the details exactly."

You said a coach can offer a scholarship but the school only offers them to kids that apply. The school does NOT offer athletic scholarships, the coaches do. Not many in the school have any idea who a coach offers to before the offer is made. Once that offer is made if a kid wants to go there he or she then applies and is accepted or not. That has NOTHING to do with being OFFERED a scholarship.
The school is on the hook for the scholarship and hold ultimate say on whether that scholarship is honored. Coaches don't have that control. It's part of the reason coaches offer more scholarships than they have: they know some kids will be rejected by the school. My point is that Carson could've (but probably wasn't) been "offered" something, but because he never applied, it's a lie to say you could've gone to West Point.

Exactly! Coaches, department heads, and in Carsons case , a General all OFFER scholarships to students they desire to have in their programs. If the student wants it, the school isn't gonna oppose it.
Still wrong. The reason coaches OFFER more ships than they have is because they won't all be accepted by those offered (in Carsons case) or they won't all qualify (not a problem in Carsons case).

This is what happens with candidates who have never run for office - the light of day is often not good for their stories. You can believe the dems and other Rs have been looking into this stuff
