St. Louis University High coached by Erwin Claggett @ De Smet coached by Kevin Poelker. The final score was 51-49 in favor of the home team. The Spartans have a big team and a good ball handling guard. De Smet most likely will see the SLUH again in the Meramec Christmas Tournament. The Spartan have 3 good big fellows in Ryan Stipanovich 6'7", Rich Hill 6'7" and Griffin Palmer 6'6". The ball is in good hands with 6'2" guard Dillon Gilkey who hit the winning basket @ the buzzer for the win.

SLUH was a class 5 final four team last season but there is work to be done to reach the final four this season because of Jay Blossom and his Webster Groves Statesmen.

Did anyone out there see a state champion in any of our 5 classes this week? Sikeston put another clock on their opponent tonight, I'm guessing there are class 4 state champion talk in Bulldog land.

Springfield Kickapoo struggled tonight but got by Ozark 61-59. Kickapoo is looking for a final four birth this season but has no chance for a class 5 state champion because of St. Louis Chaminade.

Kickapoo did not play good ball tonight. It happens. Although I wouldn't count out the Chiefs yet, I know Chaminade is a great team and deserve the #1 bid but Kickapoo can be tough to beat. Now I do admit this opinion is biased because I am a chief fan so it might just be wishful thinking. We will see. The Tournament of champions is coming up and depending on seeding we might get to see a Chaminade vs Kickapoo matchup.

Nixa is always a major player. They have been the Poo's Achilles heal the past few years. Should be a good match up later this year. Nixa definitely has the tools to end the Chiefs season again.

My fingers are crossed that it does not happen.

Kickapoo is good but don't sleep on Nixa.

The class 5 state championship is already decided. The talent level @ Chaminade is just too good and Jayson Tatum is on another level in class 5. I am hearing the " The next Jason Tatum " lives in Columbia, Missouri and attends Father Tolson high school. Looking down the road @ the freshman and sophomore classes. We have the Sikeston sophomore Fred Thatch but the biggest thing I've seen I seen to date is the

Wasn't Chaminade a lock last year too?

Chaminade was a favorite last season but this year they are a lock. I can not see how anyone who has attend a Chaminade game this season could believe teams like Springfield Kickapoo, Nixa. Hazelwood Central or any other Missouri team would have a chance with Chaminade. I believe Chaminade will win by 15 or more points in the class 5 final four. I'm not sure if there are teams in the ' Tournament of Champions " who can defeat the top team in St. Louis. Just for fun, give us the names of teams in the Tournament of Champions who can defeat Jayson Tatum's group?

I think Chaminade will surely have their hands full with either Bishop Gorman or Sierra Canyon.

With that said I do think Chaminade should run the gauntlet and come out on top. But any team can have a bad night.

Thanks, Ru-B-Do, This is a loaded field. It's anyone's guess who will survive this field. Does anyone out there have the national ranking and the schedule for the teams below? I'm hoping to be in Springfield to see St. Louis Chaminade compete but I'd better keep my mouth closed on who wins in this tournament.

1. Oak Hill Academy-----Virginia ( Has beaten Chaminade by 4-5 early this season.
2. Christ The King-----New York
3. Sierra Canyon------Califorina
4. Bishop Gorman----Las Vegas
5. Rainer Beach---Seattle
6. Kickapoo--Springfield
7. Bolivar-----Bolivar, Missouri
8. Chaminade----St. Louis
