Hudl and how it has changed coaching

There is a lot more guessing. Instead of just trying to play sound defense, the available data from reports has more defensive coaches looking at tendencies and making calls based on that information. on the other hand it is easier to self scout and know your own tendencies.
Hudl has been an awesome tool all the way around and is still getting better.
Really old school - making a midnight run to get the super 8 film processed...
A few of our assistant coaches have mentioned while waiting around for them to finish, that a small scuffle might break out.
We had a coach back in the day who had been a salesman and he would meet our opposing coach each Saturday to exchange film. He was gifted at getting people to confess things about their own teams.
Decreases the amount of time it takes to breakdown opponents. I can have an offense's run/pass, run/pass based on field zones, favorite formations, favorite plays, favorite plays based on field position, favorite plays based on formation, is a team right handed, do they run to or from the boundary, does the QB throw right or left, all of the other teams tendencies within an hour and a half with hudl. Would take many hours or days and a lot of notebook paper before hudl.

If there was a Hudl equivalent for booster club management, she might still be with him.
Getting up on Saturday morning at the crack of dawn after a Friday night game to make that exchange was the absolute worst !
I actually miss the VHS/DVD film exchange. I had a lot of great conversations with coaches doing that and ate some pretty good grub as well.
Hudl is great for breaking stuff down and Jeez I watch hudl on my Iphone all the time and anywhere so that is great. But it's really isolated things to a degree as well even within staffs because you don't really have to meet to watch film or create tendency charts etc. Sure most still do on Saturday morning but they are not as long or indepth.
In the future Coaches might just coach from some Floating platform with advanced VR technology and communicate with players via head phones in their helmets.
Hudl has allowed coaches to spend more time with family..but not sure that's actually helped marriages...
I must admit Shoot, that was a good burn. Except Im NOT a coach and I did NOT get a divorce!!
Well, we used to go to the telegraph station and send a teletype back to the head coach, when we were scouting. "THEY RUN SINGLE WING. WATCH 44 AND 51. TENDENCY TO GO RIGHT. STOP."
Those early Saturday Morning Film Exchanges at McDonalds or Convenience Store, is something I am sure many are glad to see gone.....
