Lots of people complaining about bowl season again. I like bowl season, and think it was wrecked with the "National Championship" chasing.

Group A and Group B... How reasonable that any one of them could win the whole thing? A little less likely for B, but it could happen if they were in an eight team tourney.

In group C, you could see a reasonable argument for USC or Penn St. having a chance...but come on? I love me some Miami Hurricanes, but no...they wouldn't make it to the championship in a 12 or 16 team playoff.

Eight teams would be perfect...

I think 8 is perfect. I think we would see more big ooc games since there wouldnt be as big a penalty. If ohio state beats texas tech instead of losing to boomer do they get in?

When I read the heading of your post I thought, "8 would be just right". then I see where a couple of you had already said 8. EIGHT is the right number unless we back it up, make all bowl games part of it, then I could live with 32 teams. (similar to Basketball)

But my point is...after 8, and even with 8...how often would 8-16 EVER win the whole thing, or really be good enough to even win the first game? I think it is a dramatic drop at about 6 or 7. No way Miami makes it to a second round in a 16 team tourney.

I think you go to 4, 16 team conferences, tell ND that if they want a chance at a championship they must join a conference and then have a 24 team playoff. Every conference champion gets in with 13 at-large bids.

While were at it lets add relegation and promotion. Bottom 2 p4 go down. Top 2 g4 go up. Pac/mwc, sec/american, big10/mac, acc/cusa

Well, if an 8 team playoff, undefeated UCF may have just advanced to the final four. Kind of like watching Butler make it in basketball, wouldn't it have been sweet? Instead they just finish with the only undefeated season.
