CNN had a stated goal of having a brawl rather than a discussion of issues. I thought the moderators were fine but the questions weren't. Haven't seen it all though.

Trump has had better nights. Thought he walked right into Fiorina's trap with the women comments, you could tell she was just waiting for that.
When do you guys think this race starts to narrow and candidates start to drop? Because Rand Paul had a look on his face at the end of the night like he knew he had no shot. Maybe that's just his permanent look, afterall the Donald did basically call him ugly on national tv. Lol.

Rand Paul doesn't have a shot because he doesn't have deep enough pockets. That and he isn't for big government or sending our youth over seas to be murdered. That is why he has no shot. His tax plan could use work. He is better off not being President.

Don't forget that there were four candidates who participated in a pre-debate!
I watched part of it. I like Jindal's fire, I kind of like how he called out his own party, but not sure it helps him get elected. Out of the 11 (seemed like 45) that were on the "main stage" last night who would you sub out, and who from the pre-debate would you like to see take their place? Or are there any?

None of the JV debaters have a shot. You could probably take out Huckabee, Christie, and Paul as well from the main stage. That gets you closer to the field that has even a snowball's chance of winning.
One has dropped and CNN dropped another. It's probably too early to thin much but a lot of them seemed desperate last night. Christie, Walker, Rubio, and Kasich seemed to be really pressing to get noticed while Cruz, Carson, and Paul almost seemed happy to stay out of the fray.
All the lower tier guys in the polls are trying to outlast some of the herd. It's hard to get noticed with everyone focused on Donald. I thought CNN went out of their way to make the debate Bush vs Trump.

FOX used the forum to find out what real issues were out there.
CNN used the event to showcase the "nut" Donald Trump and tie him to the Republican brand.

I thought fox asked more questions of substance. CNN asked a lot more questions like "candidate X said ABC about you, candidate Y - respond to that." Those questions provide for fireworks and great theater, but they aren't as good as a straight question at getting politicians to speak on the record
The only thing I heard loud and clear was War War War and that is very scary. This was the one thing they were certain of. The rest of the stuff was very generic. Oh and I forgot Carly and her animated lie about parent plan hood to which nobody could verify. I think she should be made to show that video she claims to exist. It has to be out there some where.
Donald Trump said something to the effect of "let ISIS and Assad fight it out." That was the second least pro-war thing I heard. Someone might want to tell him that Assad hasn't been that interested in fighting ISIS to date, but that's a different discussion.

Trump had real good point when said Rand Paul shouldn't even be on the stage. Why have #11 on that stage when the other debate only had 6. His numbers are no better than theirs. They could have split pretty evenly and got more done.
When all the questions are on foreign policy and the conditions around the world, you aren't gonna hear about anything else. CNN had a goal of not giving questions of substance. They wanted a food fight that made people look hostile about everything.
Since you seem to live to correct my posts, there were only four in the first debate.
Trump looked small making the comment about Rand his first comment totally out of context.
There should have been fewer candidates in the "main event" and more in the "jv" event.
I thought of that after my post but just got back on here. BTW I don't "live" to do ANYTHING with your posts. The fact that only 4 were in the first debate makes it even more ridiculous that Paul was added to the second debate which already had 10.

I have no idea what that has to do with whether or not Carly Fiorina told the world about a video that doesn't really exist that she says shows people from Planned Parenthood talking about selling the brain of an aborted fetus. Mean while I still assume IF it does the folks in congress that are investigating this issue would have seen it. They have NOT.
The candidates worked pretty hard to redirect to foreign policy as well. No doubt CNN focused on it to an absurd degree though.
There's a good argument to be made that they shouldn't be cutting legit candidates down into a first debate. Jindal is a sitting governor. Graham a senator. Santorum won millions of votes four years ago. Why are they not in a real debate so their voice can be heard and considered? No one has voted yet.
I think they should have had two debates of eight people for 1.5 hours with positions chosen randomly.
Any representative that refuses to vote for the CR in the next two weeks because it won't defund planned parenthood should be thrown out of office.

A) It won't get that far.
B) If it did, he should veto it. It would be a real gut punch to women's health nationwide if PP was defunded. Not that republicans care about women.

I have two questions for you. How come it is OK for the guy 2nd in the Republican polls to have performed research on aborted fetuses? Why is it OK for many Republican's to vote for someone who did this, when they are so against these abortions?

With that said, Marco Rubio could also be a game changer by helping with the young white/latino voter.
