Platte County 45, Winnetonka 20
Smithville 27, Grandview 6
Kearney 35, Raytown South 0
Excelsior Springs 28, Warrensburg 7

All four are now 7-1. Here is how Week 9 looks:

Grandview at Platte County: Pirates should dominate and go 8-1 and be no worse than a 2 seed.
Smithville at Kearney: THE game of the week and almost 100 percent for the 1 seed with the loser dropping to 3. Another HUGE psychological test for the Warriors who haven't beaten Kearney in many, many years.
Pleasant Hill at Excelsior Springs: The Roosters are a true Class 3 regional darkhorse and could be the Tigers biggest challenge since Odessa came calling.

FUN times up here this year..................and all four are in the same district!

If Smithville would win an have the number one seed and Platte County would also win and be at number two, Platte County would become number one because they won head to head.

IF Smithville wins? Smithville isn’t beating Kearney. Spare me all the Smithville is better garbage. Kearney will win by at least 2 TDs so we can stop wasting time talking about seeds in district play. I thought you knew better than that Wilbur Woods.

That’s how the conference/division standings would turn out, but I believe the district standings would be different.

That goes by the MSHSAA playoff point system, where head to head matchups are irrelevant. Since Platte County finishes with Tonka and is still #3, the winner of Kearney/Smithville would most certainly get a big enough boost to stay in #1. They’re so close right now that Platte County would pass the loser, as thetophat pointed out.

For Consecutive seeds in district standings at the end of regular season the lower seed can switch positions with higher seed going into district play if they beat them head to head. Kdogs would either be the 1 with a win and 2 with loss, PC would be 2 only if Smithville loses otherwise 3.

Looks that way.

Ok thanks, did not know.

I saw one extremely physical battle last night at Park Hill and "think" the same could happen in KTown this Friday. Smithville will present Kearney the best defense they've seen since Staley Week 2 without a doubt. I could see this one be even lower scoring than last night's aforementioned Staley-PH game.

Was the winner of the S-PH game the most physical team? Or did Staley catch some breaks, or did PH make a mistake?

El Ahriah hit the nail on the head especially in the second half: The difference was Staley's very experienced O Line. Park Hill's was simply not as consistent. Staley was all over their running game pretty much from the start............

If the Dogs O Line comes to play with an attitude right out of the gate you could be right BUT this one won't be easy regardless.

Connery left, Connery right, screen to Connery, pass to Connery, Smithville can’t stop that.
Getting Connery out in space is something I think we agree is a must. Gotta mix in some passes especially to Stevens, though, and some QB runs wouldn't hurt. I think Smithville's D will be a challenge especially the first half. K is not built to play from behind so avoiding turnovers will be another big key. That being said it is a very fair bet Smithville has not seen the level of defensive speed and discipline KTown has. At the Class 4 level it is every bit as good as Staley in C5 and Park Hill in C6.

It's interesting. A key player for PH was quite social this week on Twitter. (As well as Staley players).
I'm sure the coaches said " shut up and talk with your pads". Evidently, Staley Oline finished the social interaction.

I don't pay much attention to the teenage kids smack talk so was unaware of that BUT knew something was up when the entire Staley team ran out to the center of the field right after the game opening coin toss and the refs had to whistle and motion them back to their sideline. Been since I don't remember when since I saw something like THAT............

Another reason to hate the social media addiction. As we both type on a message board lol. Quitting social media is harder to quit than tobacco.

I broadcasted the game and as well I paid some attention to the talk back and forth. A note not many people know is starting NT for PH, James Gore. Won the state title with Staley last season. And then moved into the PH school district. So statements were being made before the game. Both teams got Unsportsmanlike Penalties before kick. I did have an issue with things that happened during the game. Yeah Staley’s o-line was controlling the line most the 2nd half but it was a little ridiculous when Gore had his helmet ripped off his head 3 separate times and nothing was called. Not a PH homer of course but found that odd. I saw it one time with my own eyes. But it was an amazing game to watch and hope these 2 continue to face off every season, cause we got a rivalry brewing.

Back in the early Staley years it was the Falcons and Kearney who were very bitter rivals.............many, many events like this occurred.

So they let them play. Sounds like the opposite of never ending instant replays on routine calls, commercial breaks, incessant ticky tack penalties, insipid games that last 7 hours. When your helmet comes off it doesn't fit or it's loose. Even if you grab a man by the face mask, it will not come off unless it's loose.
