Lafayette County (Higginsville) avenged an earlier 15 point loss to the Richmond Spartans tonight by upping the ante to a 41 point spread. Final score 73-32. (Before someone claims RHS was without 3 of their top 6 players, I can assure you that Richmond was fully loaded tonight, as I was at the game). That is not a knock on anyone from Richmond, BTW, rather in reference to my Mound City post. RHS had handed Higginsville their only loss of the season. The win puts the Huskers back in contention for another MRVCE crown share. Check out my twitter feed Higglcsports for scoring totals on this game. The Huskers are in a LOADED district, to make it out of District 14 will be quite something I can assure you. The win on Richmond's senior night was a special one for Higginsville and snaps a long losing streak to the Basketball Spartans. The Higginsville seniors were also able to nab the football conference championship besting RHS on their Homecoming and then defeating all other conference opponents. RHS gave Lamar everything they wanted in the state semis, and Higginsville also made the state semis in football. #OnwardHuskers

Higginsville should win that district hands down. St Michael could get them but that is a game Higginsville should win and nobody else in that district poses any threat. Lone jacks record is nice but strength of schedule is pretty weak. Same could be said for the sectional and quarterfinal game. They are a good team with a good path to the final 4.

Best I can tell there will not be sectional games this year. They've screwed up the post season this year and lumped a whole bunch of teams, 16 I think, into one big district. Poplar Bluff will travel to St.Louis to play and if they win they would have to do that 3 times to move on too whatever they call the next round now. o_O

Class 5 and 6 only have 8 districts of 7-8 teams, so the district winners play in a quarterfinal game, no sectional games in those two classes. Class 1-4 have 16 districts and will have sectional games.

Thanks Raider. I just saw the small school districts in the paper down here and it looks like it usually does. Poplar Bluff and Jackson have to go north to south St.Louis now unless they get to host the district so I guess it won't be much different this year. I guess it just makes longer travel times for some of the class 5 and 6 teams. I guess I don't know the reason for this change. They do some strange things.
