Previously undefeated Mound City tasted defeat tonight at the hands of Class 3 Lafayette County C-1 Higginsville by the count of 103-56.
Mason Rumsey for Higginsville, and former AAU teammate and D1 commit Tony Osbourn for Mound City BOTH had 42 points! Josiah Golden and Kyzer Gann Vega each had 18 as well for the running Huskers. The Huskers are the one seed in perhaps the deepest district in Class 3. State ranked teams in this district also include St. Michael's and Lone Jack. A Final Four team from last year (Summit Christian), and Lexington (sporting a winning record), University Academy, and St. Paul's are all very capable and quality teams as well!

Mound* City only had 3 of their top 6 players on the floor.
they were missing 2 starters and their sixth man.
one was injured and the other 2 were sick.

so though Mound* City’s best player was on the floor, Higginsville essentially beat a Mound City team who had half of their normal rotation out.

this is coming from a direct Mound City source

Looking at video from the North Platte tourney (1/27 vs West Platte, Mound City started 11, 15, 4, 22, & 13... I believe, with 23 coming in soon off the bench, (all those played against Higg), on 1/29 4, 22, 23, 13, 20 started (and those were the starters against Higginsville, with 11 & 15 also playing, did not go back any farther than that to look at lineups. Mound City is a great program though for sure!!!

I can’t confirm or deny any of that first hand. Information I was given was from someone extremely close to the program, and I can’t see why they would just flat out lie, so I’ll take them at their word.
