He’s a sports guy for one of the local TV stations. There’s a lot of rumors flying around , with the Dec Signing Period coming up in a week or so.

Doesn't sound like he checked his sources very well.

If u read my former things, I am in high school. Lots of rumors going around on the football team about this very topic. I’ve heard some rumors that Washington wants to decommit from Texas because he wants to be closer to home. He wants to either go to Illinois or mizzou. It isn’t official yet and he may not even decommit. Just rumors. However, if u follow him on social media he’s been posting some questionable things on there that may lead u to believe he will decommit from the university of texas

This sucks for me because I’m a die hard texas fan and would love to see him go there. I’ve been rooting for this guy for that reason. I get why he would decommit. Having local teams in college football that are good, make college football more enjoyable.

Yeah, I choose not to stalk/follow teenagers on social media. Thanks for the insight though.

Word is he is going to Illinois. Also, Jeff Thomas (receiver at Univ of Miami from East St. Louis) will be transferring there as well. Cory Patterson was in Columbia for the championship game and hungnout in Stl for a few days. I'm sure he was all in Washington's ear.

Not sure why anyone would want to go to Illinois, place is a dumpster fire with Lovie at the helm.

A lot of the trinity players are going to Illinois because there former high school football head coach went there and they want to play for him

The problem with that is you should never chose a place for who the coach is, because in College football or any sport the landscape can change fast, you just never know what will happen in the 4 to 5 years you might be on campus. I think you need to have a good relationship with them but the choice should be about more than who the current coach or assistants are. My child is in their forth year of college went to a Junior college the first two years, she has had 4 different head coaches in that time frame.

If you are a pro style QB, I would think you would want to go with a coach who traditionally runs that style of offense.
Same for a dual threat QB. Same thing may apply to other positions. So......

The Univ of Illinois is one of the Top public universities in the country, academically. It’s close enough to STL for Area kids’ families to travel to most of their games easily. Illinois also has th OC from West Virginia when they had White at QB, so the scheme fits Williams’ skill set. It’s in The Big 10, so they play big time opponents and they have a coach on staff (for now) that is invested emotionally in local kids ... especially Trinity’s. Not to mention Illinois is giving young players TONS of game time and “where you’re from” matters to some degree when it comes to colleges marketing their athletes in promotions.

There are worse places for a kid to choose to attend.

And that is all great if that was also factored into their decisions. I never said anything negative about Illinois or the decision. I just said make sure they are making a decision on more than just the current coaches, you just never know if they will be there all 4 years you are in school.

Correct I think you have to look at that when making a decision. But don't make a decision solely based on your youth/highschool coach is now there. And hopefully that is not the only factor for these kids.

100%. I was recruited by the defensive coordinator of the University I played at. I really liked the guy and respected him. I made my decision based on that relationship (not solely on that, but mostly). He left for another school about a month before we reported. Ended up playing for a coach that I did not like very much or respect greatly. I always think about what could have been now that its too late...

MAN, see why IW is going they are letting him play QB. Anybody else would be weird. Illinois is terrible all the way around. If Im gonna go to a school that historically stinks I’ll at least go somewhere warm. Not stay in the Midwest

The Texas football program is comparable to the Titanic my friend, you have the choice to either get to the lifeboats or go down with the ship. May I recommend Oklahoma, or perhaps Texas Tech?

He might be trying to avoid wasting his playing years at a school that consistently under performs

I totally agree with you. I don't think Illinois is a good choice for any of them and with the exception of Boyd, they made the choice based on Patterson. I wouldn't be surprised to hear about one or two transferring out in a couple of years.

Whoa! Chazz Michael Michaels shows up on MoSports huh?? Not sure if figure skating qualifies as a sports documentary. I'd have to consult with the other Doc Guys
