Honestly have not heard. Last time I asked about it was in the fall and no one knew exactly what they were going to do.
I have heard that Lamar will be playing in the Webb jamboree. If so, it could make for an interesting scrimmage. Lamar lost several key performers from last year but, they should still be very competitive in Class 2. And Webb City, well, they just reload every year. They should be the favorite again in Class 4. It should draw a huge crowd.
If that is the case I think most people will be extremely disappointed at how WC handles jamborees. They have always played as many kids as possible and many times in multiple positions. You will not see the true starters all together in the positions projected to start in for more than a snap or two. Maybe a series if there are a lot of returning starters and few questions spots to fill.
If you think this is going to be any kind of gauge to see how the two programs match up you will be disappointed.

Yep but it will make the jam fun. From Lamar sources I guess they had everyone drop out of thei jamboree and I guess Joplin’s not excited about seeing Webb since they play week 2
Lamar plays all of its players in the jamboree. Freshman normally play against a team, then the JV and then the Varisty. The last few years you would drive to Stockton knowing what the varsity had and looking forward to seeing younger players. This year will be interesting to see who starting on the varsity.
Jamborees are hardly worth the time if you want to really see what two teams are like. I mean, it makes sense. Why would you want to risk too much for a game of sorts that really means nothing.

The last few years Joplin has very much enjoyed 'handling' Seneca and then celebrated each play like it was a last-second Superbowl win.
That's the kind of goofery they need to get past if they ever plan to be seen as a respected program. If they could look at the jamboree as a an opportunity to learn something and loosen up for the start of the season? They wouldn't have to worry about showing their butts to Webb in the jamboree.
Not dissing Joplin ... I just know they desperately want some respect and they start EARNING it ... ... now.

Jamborees are a great predictor of future performance. Pretty much tells you exactly how many games a team will win, if not tell you exactly how far and well they will do in the playoffs. It is as predictable as math.
Not excited about driving to Lamar though if this shakes out. We have gotten pretty spoiled rotating between WC and Joplin every season.
Will they play a jamboree on that pretty grass field???
I went up to watch them play Valle and I thought it was field turf when I first got there

For the record, and it was beat to death when we hashed it out, originally, the decision to play at Pitt wasn't due to saving the grass. It was due to the fact that the field was so water logged and soft, injury to players on BOTH teams was imminent. Since then, the field has been maintained and prepared to shed water much more effectively.
Joplin was 8-2 and conference champions last year; why aren't they already seen as a respected program?

I'm just guessing most of the folk who follow area football with any enthusiasm would ask for more than one 8-2 season to establish the reputation as a respected program. For me it would involve repeat success as well as the ability to cultivate new talent as old talent graduates.
As others have recently noted ... programs aren't built on one particular class. Best of luck to them. It's always been a huge hurdle to bring all those kids in from so many different elementary and middle schools and make them into successful and cohesive high school programs. Takes an incredible amount of community and Joplin hurts for that.
you see them go 8-2 against Class 6 schools then they will start gaining some respect. How many district/playoff games have they won in the last 20 years?
