Chillicothe is a town with a heavy heart today as we have learned of the death of Coach Dave Kinen, or "Coach K" after a long and courageous fight against ALS.
Dave was the head wrestling coach for Chillicothe for 11 years before retiring due to his health. In his final couple of seasons, he would be carried down to the wrestling room to do what he loved so much.
He served as PE teacher for the elementary students. He would stand at the front door of the school every morning, and would greet every student by name and give them a big smile.
He never gave up fighting his ALS disease, with signs line "Eat My Dust ALS" on the back of his motorized wheel Chair. At his prime, he ran the weight room, opening it up at 5am for the athletes.
As a favor, I ask my MoSports friends to stop for a moment and say a quiet prayer for Coach K. He was one of a kind.
