What are the reasons for considering this?Hearing whispers that MSHSAA is seriously considering going back to 5 Classes plus 8 man for Football.
Current 5 break estimate | 1 - 138 (95) | 139 - 265 (87) | 266 - 514 (91) | 515 - 1019 (75) | 1020+ (71) | |
Current Football break | 1 - 231 (63) | 232 - 363 (55) | 364 - 555 (53) | 556 - 960 (54) | 961 - 1346 (54) | 1347+ (32) |
I just grabbed the X County list. But the idea of going backwards sounds dumb as hell to me.What's your current 5 break estimate supposed to be? There aren't that many schools playing football. That a total number of schools?
If you take the current 311 11-man schools and divide by 5 equal classes that's 62 each class, one class has 63. I'm guessing they WON'T do that though. Although that presents an interesting football problem with more than 64 teams in a class.
Has any sport EVER gone backwards in classes? Meaning, once a sport has expanded has it ever gone back to a lower number of classes? I just don't think they'll do it

Not a chance...they are 20+ down the list. Demographics won't change that fast. LOLWebb will still be in 5 in a few years.
With that breakdown probably not. WC is growing yes but you have to look at ALL the schools that they need to leapfrog as well as look below them because some schools will probably surpass Webb City. There are a lot that I see that I assume are probably outpacing Webb City in growth.Webb will still be in 5 in a few years.
The only way it makes sense is if numbers keep falling and the smaller schools just can’t continue to field 11 man teams. I could see an overall drop in 11 man schools leading to only 5 classes.I just grabbed the X County list. But the idea of going backwards sounds dumb as hell to me.
What is the total # of 11 man teams compared to the early 2000's, when they went to 6 classes? What's your current 5 break estimate supposed to be? There aren't that many schools playing football. That a total number of schools?

It is? Where’s the truth. You would make a fine politician though.Yep and I'm also the same clown that just recently posted that the COC & OC are in talks and it's true!
Personally they need to go to 16 team districts again for football. Make 3 to 4 team Districts. Keep the point system, bracket style. It least keeps things interesting during the year. Mainly to cut down on the geography, there are some stupidly big districts when you try to lump 8 teams together. Bring back sectionals and roll.
Easy there, Joey. While I agree, this poster is a CLOWN, calling people that is MY thing. Get your own thing!Hearing whispers that MSHSAA is seriously considering going back to 5 Classes plus 8 man for

The dude is this picture definitely needs to be introduced to a Ms. Jenny Craig.
"The dude in this picture"!? You KNOW thats me!! And I dont need any introducing to Ms. Jenny Craig as IVE BEEN LOSING WEIGHT!!! NICE TRY!!!The dude is this picture definitely needs to be introduced to a Ms. Jenny Craig.
I'm not one that thinks everyone deserves a trophy but the system from 1988 to 2008 I liked the 4 team setup and the current system's point and bracket system.Wrong!
We need ONE team districts!! That way Everyone is a district champion!!!!!
Hispanics?Webb has a big population explosion coming to the high school. Maybe it wouldn't be enough to get them into class 5 here.
WHOA NELLY! That's MY thing!Easy there, Joey. While I agree, this poster is a CLOWN, calling people that is MY thing. Get your own thing!
Yes Top...."whoa nelly" is your thingWHOA NELLY! That's MY thing!
Would be better off to keep 6 and make class 5 and 6 both 32 teams or class one and 6 - 48 teams each. No reason to go back to 5 yet.Hearing whispers that MSHSAA is seriously considering going back to 5 Classes plus 8 man for Football.
Make it 4 public and 2 private and that'd be a go.I think many would agree go back to 5 classes; 1 private school class and 5 public school classes.
No reason to cheapen a state title.Make it 4 public and 2 private and that'd be a go.
Yes Top...."whoa nelly" is your thing
Blue Springs never cared, during the Donohoe tenure, about whether Rockhurst was private or not. They just lined up and played one classic after another so agree! No reason to cheapen a state title.
