Hat you can't go to away game again!!

Top, it seemed to me, from what I could tell on TV, that nearly 50% of the fans were in red. Were the Chiefs fans almost as loud as the home crowd? I could hear the war chant several times faintly but the tv folks seemed to muffle that and amplify the home crowd. Am I wrong?

60% and they were making fake crowd noise at times during the game. That place has the greatest sound system on Earth (will find out at SB 58) they really amped it up. I have video of that war chant it was raucous..............

This is tuff to watch!!
Early on Chiefs fans (the majority of the crowd) wanted to hide trust me. Amazing comeback after that and boy did the Raiders rookie QB shift gears after a Brady-esque start.

I indeed used to be called the Chiefs attend in person curse back in the Marty years and have attended both home Conference Championship losses in person so the key is avoid Arrowhead......................two for two in Vegas now!

This is not dissimilar to the Marty years 1989-97 FWIW.
I was a for the most part a Marty fan and in the minority with Chief fans where I worked. We went from terrible to knocking on the door about every year. The guy was just snake bit everywhere he went.
RIP.

Agree! Did you attend the January 1996 deep freeze loss to Indianapolis with now controversial Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh QBing for the Colts? Lin Elliott got all the blame what about Steve Bono's (SF dining elitist let's see how many remember that) THREE freaking picks!

Wasn’t there but suffered thru it in front of the tube. Marty’s rule that you don’t lose your job due to injury cost him when he benched Gannon for Grbacs return after a stellar 13-3 1997 season resulting in a first round loss to Elway and the Donks.
Edit: 2nd round following the bye.

That was indeed the beginning of the end BUT that was the major issue the whole time (Jason Whitlock had this pegged pretty much from day one): King Carl Peterson vs. Marty Schottenheimer. Carl made the Grbac call. Marty wanted Gannon. The curse of 13-3 (1995 and 1997 for Marty and 2003 for Dick Vermeil).

Thank God these glory years have arrived!

KC fans have been pretty spoiled for a loonnggg time. I remember working midnights at UPS in KC when they hired Schott. Some old man that worked that shift told me they'd be good but would never win the big one with Marty. That old boy was right.

Come to think of it, I can't remember him being wrong.

Maybe he wasn't married.

The dead end was selling out to bring in talent that no one else wanted because of their character. That and releasing Rich to keep Elvis in the building that had no respect among his teammates.

ZERO people skills correct! A long ago manager who grew up in Strawberry Hill KCK told me they invited Grbac to their big annual festival he showed up acted like he'd rather be anywhere else said about three words (thank you not among them) then left...................

Another Carl Peterson SF retread. DeBerg actually did overachieve in 1989-90 but came back to Earth and we did get one good year out of Montana (but he did win that infamous Elway game in Denver in 1994 before totally flaming out come playoff time) then came the previously mentioned elitist Bono and then Grbac................still makes me angry to this day even talking about this.

My 90s stories were mainly from the Westport club years haha. Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, Dan Saleauma (was one of my first dart teammates/co workers best man at his wedding they were all from the Federated States of Micronesia) among others back in the days when NFL players were regular guys outside the sport and didn't have a bunch of hired security, either.

I liked DeBerg, not because he was talented, but he was tuff. Remember him playing with a pin sticking out of his finger. He was like 45 years old playing in the days when D lineman regularly sent QBs to the hospital under the old rules. DeBerg's drinking was legendary with 2nd hand stories circulating the Joplin area in the days before all this social media and 24 hour news cycle. DeBerg would hand off to Okoye 10 times in a row and then hit a wide open Jonathan Hayes on play action pass.

My funniest DeBerg memory on the field was 1990 he'd put his arms up right after he threw a long TD pass then did same in Houston in 1991 but a year took its toll the pass was picked about 5 yds. short of the end zone.
