Hannibal scores on another steady dose of up the middle runs and then gives up a late score to Troy after an interception to go into the half down 21-20. Pretty tight game. Aneyeas is playing well and breaking 3 or four tackles per play for hard earned yardage between the tackles. Surprised they aren’t trying to get him in space at all. It will be interesting to see the adjustments coming out of the half.
It was a hard fought game. Lots of hard hits. Aneyeas had 25-30 carries and Ferreira had another 20-25. Hannibal was very predictable on O and had to grind it out the entire game and earned the win. Hannibal was in split backs running inside veer, dive option and counter for 5 yds+ a carry most of the games. Troy never adjusted and stayed in their 3-3 base D with outside backers walked up and slanting their ends pretty much all night and just kept taking it on the chin. Great win for the Pirates. They should have an easy 5 weeks and get back some key players come districts that did not play tonight.
I knew they had at least doubled aneyeas’s typical workload but didn’t realize it was 40. Reminds me of Bradford Griffey getting 52 carry’s against Mexico in 1999 when they had Dedrick Harrington and were still getting kids out for football in the late 90s and early 2000s. I can see Aneyeas getting that many carried in the next month against sub par NCMC competition.
Aneyas is a stud...no doubt about it...very special player!
