If the Pubs had said this is what Dems were trying to do, you guys would have laughed it off as a smear tactic!
This thing reads like an article straight out of the Onion.
It's bad enough that AOC is young and dumb enough to buy this stuff but, EVERY Dem primary candidate has signed on to it.

Rebuild EVERY building in the country to new standards!
Eliminate every combustible engine!
Outlaw the use of all coal, gas, diesel, and nuclear energies!
Eliminate boat and airplane travel!
Free education, and medical care!
Provide income for anyone unable or unwilling to work!

What a GREAT plan you guys want.

I haven't seen this stuff, only that they say they want something called the green new deal. Does it say over what time period they would like to do this? How would they get anywhere across an ocean? I'm guessing this is someone's serious exaggeration of what they say they want.

In ten years

Pure stupidity, it is completely impossible to do away with all fossil fuels.

Let them start with tearing down all the buildings in New York City it would be a blessing for the country

Can't believe serious candidates actually stood up supporting the proposal

Read a newspaper. Quit watching CNN. It's EVERYWHERE!
10 years is the written goal to accomplish ALL of it!
There wouldn't be any crossing the ocean without a row boat unless you can develop a solar powered boat or plane.
This is not an exaggeration. That is the point. I said it looked like a Republican stating what Democrats wanted in a satirical way but it's not.

Dem presidential candidates standing up and backing a proposal to do away with all oil, natural gas, coal, wood, and nuclear power sources in ten years is just signing their own death sentence.

Right now "green" energy or renewables are touted to be up to 18% of energy production,, that should be clarified as 18% of electrical power. When you look at the total power needed including gasoline, diesel, propane, natural gas,,heating oil and even wood the contribution of renewables is currently less than 1% of the total BTU's we consume

Dems better start searching for a good source of dilithium crystals

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D-N.Y.) highly anticipated Green New Deal is here, and it's packed with some very lofty goals.

The freshman congresswoman, along with Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass), unveiled a plan to revamp the U.S. economy and eliminate carbon emissions on Thursday, suggesting in an NPR interview that deficit spending might be the best way to pay for it. Here are 5 bold moves the Green New Deal and its accompanying FAQ calls for.

1. "Upgrading all existing buildings in the United States." Yep, that's all 5.6 million commercial buildings in America, not to mention millions of residential buildings on top of that.

2. "Build[ing] out high-speed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary." That's in the FAQ. The actual resolution just calls for "overhauling transportation systems ... to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions," including by building railways.

3. "Guaranteeing a job with a family-sustaining wage ... to all people of the United States."Which is only a small chunk of the biggest promise...

4. "Providing all members of society with high-quality health care, affordable, safe and adequate housing, economic security, and access to clean water, air, healthy and affordable food, and nature." That means accounting for the census-projected 360 million people anticipated to make up the U.S. in 2030.

5. Eliminating cows. The FAQ document very reasonably acknowledges that "we aren't sure that we'll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes" in the next ten years. But that insinuates that bovines may be eliminated eventually, seeing as livestock account for a solid sliver of America's carbon emissions.

Despite a slew of Democratic backers, NPR says the bill is unlikely to pass.

Like I said, I have one vote in one state and I have paid next to NO attention to these newbies yet. There should be a law that says NO campaign for any office can start any more than 1 year from the election for the office they're running for. Too much money and too much BS gets out there in only 12 months, we sure don't need it any more than that. Trump, or any president, should not be allowed to hold campaign rallies during the time period either. Anytime he makes a speech he turns it into a campaign rally, even the SOTU. :(

You should pay attention to the newbies. They've pushed me and anyone with a functioning brain out of the Democratic party.

These "newbies" are the party base! Remember a guy named Bernie? Even Chuck Todd was saying you can't get the nomination without them. THEY are the Democratic party.
