Covington boy wins the lawsuit against CNN. Is this a step forward in reforming fairness by pressuring big media to report both sides of an issue?

a. The kid is white was wearing a Trump hat when he was verbally attacked by black racists, and approached closely by a Native American. CNN immediately piled on because they are anti-Trump and they assumed the child was doing something wrong. Additional lawsuits are being filed against other media outlets.

It doesn’t really have anything to do with free speech. It has everything to do with slandering a persons good name in front of the world. CNN got what they deserved

Thanks, I wrote my question so poorly. I did edit it. Well, now that you say that, I am not sure what the court officially ruled. I will check. The press is protected by the 1st Amendment to write what they want, and if they make a mistake, they get time to retract the story.
I don't like hate speech laws. But it seems in order to have a new fair press, the ACLU type approach is needed at this time in our history.
