Good Day to be a Bulldog.....Bad Day to be a Tiger

This is 3 to 8 years too late for CJ in some ways. I don't think CJ will beat WP this year.

I was speaking from a historical perspective (last 30 years). Carthage is very capable of beating WC this year....it just doesn't happen that often.

At some point Webb has to have a down year don't they? Everyone else does, including much bigger schools.

It is harder to have a down year when you have 100 players 10-12 to pick from but I agree in general with you.

I don’t know i think part of the reason Webb doesn’t have “down” years was on display last Friday night. Late 3rd qtr Webb was up like 38-3 on Kickapoo and game was over. Webb punts the ball and three guys had a good shot to down the ball inside the 5 if they hustle but all of them pull up and let it roll into the end zone. You could hear JRod screaming “Do Your Job”!!!!!! All over the stadium he wasn’t a happy camper. When you don’t accept anything but 100% effort you can accomplish a lot with average athletes

Yeah but at other schools some classes just don't have any athletes no matter how much you coach them.

I would say there’s several yrs Carthage is cable of beating Webb they just can’t do it. When it comes down to fundamentals Webb almost always wins those game’s against everyone!

For example I just saw that the Webb City 7th grade lost to Neosho tonight 34-12. Is this a weaker class or will kids move in and it won't matter?

That same 7th grader class will have those same 40+ kids playing till their Srs! It’s not about move ins 🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s about the program! Why is it so hard for people to understand!

If no one in the class is any good it doesn't matter if they keep playing.

They can have a 'weak' class here or there ...doesn't matter because there will always be capable athletes from other varsity classes to fill in gaps. Their deck is loaded every single year not because kids transfer in huge numbers it's because their parents move them there at a young age specifically to play sports. And also because kids who may not ordinarily play football will play at Webb because they want to be a part of it. So they have 110% buy in and buck up when coaches get after them where in other schools the kid may just walk off the field if he gets yelled at.

The lone exception I can think of was a gap when the state champion class of 98 graduated and it took a couple years to get put back together.

In my opinion from watching decades of Webb/Carthage games - Webb more often than not wins by outlasting the tigers physically and executing the basic fundamentals flawlessly while Carthage gets jittery and makes mistakes and then deviates from their game plan.

This actually makes sense to me. If you have a stud 3rd grader you move to Webb. This also means Webb is playing a different game than everyone else and should beat everyone else.

Part of the losing at younger levels also has to do with player development. They play to win but they also work multiple kids into the game to gain experience which pays dividends in high school. I am still not sure how much I believe that WC is getting a whole bunch of move ins that are studs. There have definitely been a few but I think a vast majority are born here. You can see this with a lot of the names that repeat generationally.

The majority of the 37 seniors at WC this year have been in WC since 3rd grade. You lose some numbers as freshman (8th grade numbers for this group were 68) because of conflicting season schedules and having to choose, but brotherhood along with player development over scoreboard in youth/JR high play are big factors in maintaining the high level of performance. Every year is a challenge, but worth the effort when everyone pitches in for a common goal. “It’s amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit”.

One, that 7th grade class for Neosho is very good! I believe they only lost one game 3rd-6th grade. Those kids were the same size last year as they were this year. WC 7th grade class is their biggest class to date, they have some studs. IMO, they haven't hit their growth spurt yet. That class is talented, they will be fine!

I am a better man than you have always been... everyone knows that
Excuse me?? Who gave you a ride to school in the rain!? Who made sure you got to class on time? Who bought the team, and you, beer? Who-? I've gone on long enough. Im a pillar to the Ampipe community!
I think Bosko is just a BIGGER man, than you Stef.

Excuse me!? If this is a fat joke, NOT FUNNY!!! If this is actually saying I am a bigger man than Stef, then thank you.
