This will depress the hell out of the GOP (Gigantic oil profits). Poor Joe Manchin.

I can’t wait until a certain knownothing comes on to this platform and tells us this is decades from being useful, requires rare minerals, etc etc etc. etc etc etc etc

Then we will get some links that we won’t read from the clown.

Fusion reaction requires a constant sustained core temperature in excess of 100 million degrees. the only way it has been achieved in a lab is by surrounding the reaction with basically a magnetic force field, and even then it's debatable if it produced more energy than it took to create the reaction.

We are centuries away from fusion being used to generate power
Centuries? Stay in your lane skipper.

You do realize 100 million degrees is many times hotter than the core of the sun???

There are no materials on earth capable of withstanding the heat required to sustain a fusion reaction
What they have already accomplished was unthinkable just a few years ago. Relax and celebrate the possibilities instead of being a d-bag. No one said they have it ready. If this happened two years ago Trump would have been taking credit for it. Nobody knows more about fusion than Donald J Trump.

It took them decades to get here. It may take decades more or it may never work.
But there were naysayers who thought they wouldn’t get to where they are right now.

Interesting you think the GOP would be upset about this...... It was a Bipartisan fusion energy caucus. And I hope you read that a a lot of private money was put into this. Follow the $$$$ and you will see that Big Energy will still be in control. They are not going to leave the back door open to profit.

I hope in a few Decades they can make this viable. But the article was rather vague on a timeline.... several Decades away could be 20 years or 90 years?

One small step for man. but possibly one giant leap for mankind. I have faith in science. Fusion energy could be the future. No one knows the timeline. But funding research into energy research must remain a high priority to save our planet.

Yes agree that is why the BS grift Bill of Bidens that only allocated 1 billion to energy research is a travesty. What we have is private investors who are footing the Bill which is ok but... of course they will control the Product because they will own the research and innovators.
