Ft. Zumwalt South wins SCW Classic on last-second shot in overtime

Fort Zumwalt South 62, Marquette 61

Judah Nunn sank a 3-pointer with roughly 1.5 seconds left in overtime as the Bulldogs repeated as tournament champs.

FZS trailed 49-39 after the third quarter before mounting a rally. JJ Schwepker tied the game at 56 on a trey with 42.6 seconds left in regulation. The Bulldogs (4-0) played the entire tournament without Belmont recruit EJ Bellinger (thumb injury).

(Personal note: After many years at Northwest, I am teaching at Fort Zumwalt South this year. This was the first time I have had a team on the winning end against the Mustangs in 14 attempts.)

Zumwalt South ( Class 5 ) could compete for another championship @ the St. Dominic Christmas tournament with high flying Sikeston Bulldogs ( Class 4 ) who has been dominate since invading St. Charles County over five years ago. If EJ plays in the Dominic Christmas tournament, Zumwalt South has a chance, if he does not play, Sikeston will travel down highway 55 with the hardware.

The only sure thing if Zumwalt South and Sikestom play in the championship game is the Sikeston " Loyalist " Rocket, Rocketbro, Bucket Lover, Sikeston Train and others will be out in force in O'Fallon, Missouri.

The hope is that he is back for St. Dominic--if not, the Bulldogs have a long hiatus from December 29 until January 11. He should definitely be back for the January 11 game against Wentzville Liberty.
