Fox cancels M&Ms

This is the dumbest thing I've seen in a while. I lost 7 IQ points reading the article. What an absolutely vacuous existence some people must live to care about such things.
I don't want to eat a unsexy green M&M.... they must have GOGO boots or it's a no go for me.... You have to Draw the Line Some where!!!

Now from the serious side.. This isn't abnormal at all this outrage happens all the time it's just not as published because this has a political bent to it.

People hate change. Other examples of Customer outrage.. when they made the Green skittle Sour Apple not lime petitions and outrage went on for years. In the Comic Book Industry a continue backlash on taking away Superman's Red trunks still rages.
Currently the over abundance of Obese scantly clad models in print and TV is causing a stir from different sides some saying it glorifies and justifies a unhealth lifestyle others say doing so is normal and this body type shouldn't be shamed out of pop culture.

The Removal of Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima also caused a dust up. I did find it strange that in the effort to fight Racism those companies decided to remove 2 Black Icons...one a real person.... from the publics awareness.

And of course my GF favorite rant or pet peeve is about the insane amount of Mixed race couples and kids in the media which is clearly Media virtue signaling and misrepresents that demographic as a norm as opposed to the small minority they are.

She got into a argument with a GF of my buddy a white Karen over State Farm changing Jake from White to Black. His GF was all for it and saying it was about time they made Jake black and how the emotional healing was wonderful blah blah blah.

My GF said she like the old Jake better, but clearly stupid white people and the worst stupid white women must believe that Black People are so stupid that a Change of Jakes Race to black will automatically increase the number of Black people buying State Farm insurance, and that some how that change of race is emotional healing and beneficial to black society... when all Black People want is the same as White people fair and cheap insurance. She then said it was pandering and tokenization at the highest level.

I had to laugh because I have State Farm and then I asked my Buddies GF is she did and she said no and I asked if she was going to change insurances and she got real silent......and she said she doubted it.

So yeah Adverts and such can spur emotional feelings and responses but I do agree it's strange at times the level of emotional attachment people get for these things.

The original Jake left because he was no longer employed by State Farm and wasn't an actor, People always assume something when really there was nothing there.
Some viewers have raised the question of why Jake was re-cast for the new campaign. Patty Morris, State Farm assistant vice president of marketing and brand, explains that an actual company employee would not have been a right fit for the job.

“[Stone] did great at delivering his famous line, ‘Uh…khakis,'” Morris told Carrier Management. “However, this expanded role is very demanding and is best filled by a professional actor.”

“The Jake character embodies all of us at State Farm,” she added. “Jake isn’t a call center rep or an agent or claims rep. He transcends job titles. He represents who we are as a company—a helpful humanization of what a good neighbor should be. He can be any race or gender.”

There have been theories that Miles was hired to placate a more woke audience, but it’s pure unfounded speculation. In fact, Stone is very supportive of Miles stepping into his shoes. After filming his cameo in the new ad, Stone told The Argus, “He’s been pretty amazing with the spot and helping our company as well. He’s one of the kindest people you will ever meet, and it is a big honor to have him move forward with it.”

Stone also described it as an “honor” to be invited back for a cameo.

That reeks of corporate BS and I'm sure you can see through that..... Even if that was 100% spot on which is doubtful recasting Jake as Black as opposed to another white actor in this Day and Age has been perceived as tokenization by many. To say the Marketing Dept. didn't factor race into the equation is clearly disingenuous as they leave nothing to chance.

I mean Disney, Netflix etc. all have Racial quotes now. Literally a Box Graph to check for casting..... So I am really skeptical that this Race Swap wasn't a planned move by SF PR/Marketing division. They don't make these decisions on a whim when millions are being spent on adverts. The fact that State Farm Gave a corporate response to address the issue proves that their has been some backlash and this is more than likely Cover.

There clearly must of been a larger backlash than just my GF.... I really thought it was just her that is why I found it sort of funny. But it must of been pretty massive for them to address this and try and appease people with a return of the original Jake. I bet a lot of POC gave them some heck about it is why.

State Farm could of easily filmed a Commercial with the original Jake handing the reigns over to a Black Mike or Sam or said nothing and Just made the Black Actor the new guy .... but they didn't they wanted to market off the Original Jake and his popularity. That is why you see Race and Gender swaps for Iconic characters in Cinema all the time..... the Powers that be really believe that White people won't be interested in a Lesser known or New character that are a Minority and that a Well known character needs to be race swapped to get minority actors and characters on film and be popular.

When in a reality that has proven to be utterly false and that path has usually led to less profit and a backlash by most across all demographics.
