Four years in a row the Cardinals seasons end by being thrashed three straight in the playoffs. Mr Regular Season cannot get his club to perform well enough to stop the bleeding once it starts in the post season.

We had the best pitching in the league.
We gave up nine freakin homeruns in the final two games. Major league record level ineptness with the best staff in the league.
Would you call that great managing of your personnel?

We had innings with two on and no out and we can't advance the damn runners. Is that great fundamental baseball?

Mr. Regular Season.

We haven't had the best staff in the league for the last two months and you know it. And you didn't even mention losing Martinez. I still don't get having Lyons in the pen and not using him at all. Kid was very good when he came back up.

Rizzo took Siegrist deep last night. So why in the hell let that match-up happen again?

I do't remember Mayhe

I don't remember Matheny giving up any of those long balls or striking out any of those 27 times the last 2 nights! #NLCS in first 3 years. I think I'll stick with him. I have very few qualms with his decision making. Holiday and Molina less.. Not sure what else he could have done

Losing the last three games of the season in shutouts didn't help their postseason. That makes them 1-6 for the final six games.

Could you imagine if somebody applied this logic to ol'Duck when he was coaching football. That ish wouldn't fly!

Cards scored enough runs the last three games. Pitching and defense let us down.

The way the wind was blowing out in game three, the Cardinals didn't score enough runs. The Cubs hit 6 homeruns for a reason. The wind also effects the pitcher and the hitters psychologically. Those games are supposed to be 10-8.

Then in game four, 4th inning, we have two on and three straight batters K. Sixth inning, two on. Two K's. Neither Lester nor Arrietta were pitching and we struck out 15 times.
That's pitiful offense.

If you're the St. Louis Cardinals, with the best run prevention team in the bigs, you shouldn't be giving up 8 runs to anyone. We aren't built to win games 10-8; we are built to win them 4-2.

You got 6 runs in a game Arrieta started. That's all you could ask for from the bats. The Ks were a problem but they did enough overall.

The real problem was our staff. We gave up the second fewest HR in the NL this year during the regular season. They let us down.

Correct. And they were trending down. And when CMart went down, you kind of figured it'd be a huge issue. And it was. Still think it's a great staff, but a staff built for the long haul of the regular season. Not the post season. But gotta get there first I suppose.

This is happening every year. We get to the end of the season and our starters have nothing left in the tank. That includes Waino in previous years. One thing I know is they had Martinez throw in the winter league last year. If you want to limit your guys innings that seems to be contradictory.

Amazing to think that a staff with Waino back could be so overworked, but it was.

Matheny has to use his 4th-6th best relievers more and his best two or three relievers fewer times. Rosie was dead.

And the Cards need to evaluate if there is something they need to do differently with Wacha, Lynn, and Martinez to make sure they are healthy in October.

It's the pen, too, which is crazy.

I think losing Belisle and Waldon created an issue for him going deeper in the pen.
