My contest is closed so here goes: No real idea what to expect from K but do think the D will be pretty good so looking for a low scoring game won by Fort O 14-7. This is a lot more about how good I think the Indians will be this year (potentially all the way back if Iloilo and the QB can stay healthy) than anything against the Dogs who will still be in the Class 4 conversation come November. I will be very, very interested to see who emerges as starting QB or will it be a platoon deal.........Looking for a good game here. Kearney 27-20
Stamp it, newbie?puppies get rolled
I am sure he will pop up soon enough...........Hat where is Thedaddy he/she brings some good info on Ktown?
No doubt they were on their way until Isaiah Iloilo got injured. Last year as he went they went.Fort Returning Starters (Off/Def): 8/7
They were good at the end of the season.

I saw Park Hill South absolutely roll the Fort in the playoffs last season. Fort will have to be much improved to play with Kearney. A healthy Iloilo will help but Fort will still have to show a great deal of improvement. Their key skill people were very young last season.Iloilo is actually going to play some on the d-line this season.
If and when they play. Early season severe thunderstorms again in the KC metro. The area attracted them like a magnet last year.........I saw Park Hill South absolutely roll the Fort in the playoffs last season. Fort will have to be much improved to play with Kearney. I wonder about Staley @ Lib. North... it is not being televised on KSMO. Are games being delayed due to the weather ?If and when they play. Early season severe thunderstorms again in the KC metro. The area attracted them like a magnet last year.........
Yep. They take extra precautions when lightning is within 10 miles of stadium. Honcho is right just posted on 810 K and Fort kick off at 830.I wonder about Staley @ Lib. North... it is not being televised on KSMO. Are games being delayed due to the weather ?
Looks like Staley is putting it one Jones and co. opening night. The Falcons are going to be a major force in C5 this season maybe better than last.I wonder about Staley @ Lib. North... it is not being televised on KSMO. Are games being delayed due to the weather ?
Great to play a team like this to open the season. A little worried, from the updates I have gotten via text, about the QB situation and INTs.14-12 Fort at the half
They appear to be in midseason form...Looks like Staley is putting it one Jones and co. opening night. The Falcons are going to be a major force in C5 this season maybe better than last.

I would agree I think Kearney's D will be just fine once in Class 4 at least among teams in this area. Statewide they MUST figure out the QB situation or no way they advance past the quarters. Fort does this without Iloilo that speaks volumes. Staley is definitely the favorite as advertised in Class 5 but no reason a full strength Indians squad cannot give them a run.Fort played without Iloilo and 3 other starters tonight. The qb, Baker, was very impressive. Still a young team. Baker connected with soph wr Dominic Myers for 3 td's.
Kearney looked stout as usual on defense. I think they'll get better on offense as the season progresses. Trying to find the answer at qb.

Kearney shut down the run. They won't face another QB this good for most of the season. Without the lightening accurate strikes in the 4Q, Kearney wins this. However, K has to figure out the QB issue. They will not make it past District with what they displayed on O this week.
Baker was very solid, but Kearney's secondary has to tighten it up (and I'm confident they will.) He did a good job extending plays with his feet and finding the open guy.
IMO, there really isn't anything to figure out with the QB situation. The Potts kid that transferred in, is on the smaller size, but threw a nice deep ball (with a couple of potential TDs dropped.) Drops by receivers were a problem (we took Davis for granted out there the last couple years.) Wanted to see Potts in the game for those two possessions in the final four minutes. It was ballgame when he didn't take the field.
Rough first week for Coach Gray, with the loss of the Roach kid - Hats off to Fort for recognizing him. Hopefully Gray gets it on track this week.
I thought Fort looked great. It was a very entertaining game for a 3rd party to watch. Side note here, sat with a bunch of Fort O folks who pissed and moaned about the officiating the WHOLE game. One thing I've learned as a 3rd party traveling to games all over the state, it doesn't matter who you are or what team you're supporting the refs are always out to get YOU..lol.
That Fort QB was very impressive and as a Junior, Fort has a lot to look forward out of him and Myers hooking up over the next 2 years. The Indians passing game was awesome.
Is Iloilo hurt or something, why was he not dressed out? Either way hope he is back by 9/15. Fort Osage looked good but are they good enough to hang with Staley? Look forward to seeing how that all shakes out.

The improvement in the play of Baker(fort qb) from last year is night and day.
From an opposing team POV I think Kearney will be fine. They are still strong defensively and I think the coaches will figure out how to play to their offensive strengths as the season progresses.
Kearney is in a similar position that Fort was in last season. New coach, replacing a very good qb along with a strong senior class.....but I think Kearney is better than Fort was at this point last season. I do think they may lack a little speed right now on the offensive side of the ball....but at the C4 level I think they'll be fine. The game vs Ray South this week will be telling imo.
I don't know why Iloilo didn't play last week. I know he missed several games last season with injury. Fort was playing without 3 other starters so the win was a big confidence boost for them.
This Friday's Ray South game is HUGE early as it is. If they dominate that one you are probably right. Regardless I would say Liberty North looks like a tossup and Staley a near 100 percent loss. But one never knows............Fort looks like they are on the right track. Just cut those penalties in half, and get back the three starters that were out. Kearney will probably be 7-2 by the end of the regular season. The only question mark being the Platte County Game. But Kearney is 16-1 in the past 17 meetings, and this is the Show Me state.
