Wow. Fort had it at the 20 with 48 seconds left 1st down go into shotgun ball snapped right over quarterbacks head 20 yards back to 40. Kearney gets it. Moves it 20 yards and then throws an interception trying to get into field goal range. Overtime

Two very hard-hitting and athletic teams.

Kearney with a stall out on the 1 yard line of Fort. Another possession at the end of the 2Q on the 5. Kearney gave up an 95 yard bomb and a kick of return. K should havecwon this by 18

I am upset at the lack of hot Kearney moms on here this year. Has MoSports devolved into nothing but COVID and political talk!?

Sadly, with graduation and covid, it's a lean year for talent, both on-field and off-field in K-town. With a class of 14 seniors, there just isn't a lot of depth and stadium capacity limitations really restrict the mom-talent (graduation took the photog-mom). In spite of Joey Nos Football's optimism, it's looking like a long year for the dawgs (and fans of hot moms).

I believe you did not see the same streaming as the rest of us. The only downfall for the Bulldogs again this year will be the Special Teams! Failed 2-point conversion when a simple P.A.T could of gave them the score of 7 instead of 6! Then the almost back breaker of a Kickoff Return for a touchdown!!! Once they get the Special Teams cleared up, they will be fine!

Throw out the 95 yard bomb and K more than doubled Fort Osage's offensive production, holding them to 40 yards rushing. This is a big upgrade from last year's team. A few more wins for sure.

Although the young sophs coming up add talent. Two of the top five track and field soph athletes in the state (all classes) played for Kearney last Friday. As ranked by Milesplit.

You can't just "throw out" plays - everybody in the stadium knew that Fort was throwing the deep ball (as they ran the same play on the 2 previous snaps) - #1 for Fort was the best player on the field and Fort should have gotten the ball in his hands considerably more. I don't think Kearney has a faster player in pads (Fenner's a soph too - as was fort's entire secondary. There were a lot of young players on both sides - and both teams were rough around the edges. I don't see this team as a step up over last year's version - PC, Smithville & GV will be major struggles. Getting Staley off the schedule was a good move (and the qb change at half helped.)

Which two sophs are faster than the Arellano kid?

Luke N. # 1 in hurdles in the Missouri 8 grade. #8 Fastest time in the nation. Comparable to Logan A. in a 40y 4.6ish from what I hear.
Joe M. As fast as Luke. 4.6.
Zach G. #2 in the U.S in the discus, 3rd at 15/16 as a 15 year old. 3 x All-American. 4.7 40. Over 200 lbs, just turned 15. 150-7 in the 1.6 discus.

Top 5 Freshman track and field athletes in Missouri (all classes), two are from Kearney:

Will that eventually translate to football? I think so. But you never know.

jn it always irks me when you use track times to discuss football, while I understand it can be a predictor it isn't concrete proof like you present it to be.... Look at grandview for example a track power house but football not so much

No...I got you. Just chiming in about talent. The comment was on talent. Merely pointing out that there are some talented younglings coming up. See my comment at the bottom? When you have some of the best athletes in the state, and you can't make them football players, then you have a problem.

Ask some old Webbies what it was like getting their ass ran over by All-American discus thrower, Tucker Woolsey in the playoffs.

Win the conference in 2021? 2022?

I was impressed with the level of physicality of both programs. Solid tackling across the board. It is amazing how different that is across the metro. Reminded me of Odessa last year. All three of those schools have solid wrestling programs. I still think there is a strong correlation between solid tackling teams and rich wrestling culture. Park Hill and Staley would also be in that group. Both known for good defenses.

It's unfortunate that the bar has been lowered to the point of boasting about 40 times of sophomores that don't contribute very much, and the potential of conference titles 2 years down the road. With Platte county, Smithville and grain valley looming - is there an expectation of winning any of those?

I would think that every team in America has expectations of winning the games on their schedule!! It was only one game & pretty obvious (granted it was only on my laptop, not the same as seeing it live) but the offense looks impressive & the defense was nails, but once again the Special Teams will hurt them all season.

Isn't this the last class butt hurt by Jones' departure. From next year on..lots of winning will be taking place. You brought up speed of someone not there that didnt contrib that much? Speed matched by 2. Not much of an impact, but one of those sophs scored a TD last Friday.

Any more questions about who is faster than Arellano? Game two. Kickoff retun for a TD and lots of tackles. Little impact?

Just coming back to this ...partly for the sake of Just the No Facts. The three sophs I highlighted in September have far exceeded No Fact's expectations...

Those three have 60 Tackles 11 Assists, 811 Offensive yards, 2 fumble recoveries and 6 touchdowns.
Not too bad for some Sophs...one doesn't play D and another does not play O.
Mofan79...irked by track stats. How bout football stats then, bro? bahaha

I guess but against that sub par schedule somebody had to produce haha Kearney's only quality win was over winnetonka last week I standby my statement that track is not an accurate predictor of football talent

Sure was a big upgrade, JoeNosFootball. THE primary reason that Sophomores were such heavy contributors on this uninspiring Bulldog team, is the lack of upperclassmen (as well as quality upperclassmen.) Like last season, there should have been a few more players playing on both sides of the ball (it was nice to see the QB playing corner down the stretch last week - that likely facilitated the W - he and 4 started in the secondary last year and needed to play both ways this year.) There have been plenty of good Sophomores throughout the years that didn't see the field - due to depth, etc.

The real question is whether any of the Sophs have hot moms (asking for Bosko)....

So we can call you No Facts II....I just showed you the numbers for those three players. Hahah...crack me up. Elite athletes are elite athletes.

You are attempting to use anecdotal evidence to prove a point... Where are Grandviews football championships to go with their track ones

"Elite?" - JoeyNosFootball? I see any D1 talent on that field.

I've seen "ELITE" players - perhaps one or more of them will become that, by the time they're seniors. I've seen outstanding players that didn't get reps as Sophs - because Kearney used to be a machine.

The FACT is that in most years, those Sophs would have put up even better numbers on the JV squad, because there would have been depth ahead of them. The good news is that they (hopefully) come back next year, with experience. Hopefully there are changes to support and utilize their experience.

It is a shame Kearney didn't get to go to DeSoto (KS).

Elite athletes. Didn't say "players." And I'm not just making it up. MoMileSplit says they are elite. Two of the top 5 track athletes as 9th graders in Missouri (all classes.) But the fact they are elite in track and field is undisputable. Just look up the U.S. rankings and performances on athletics.net. Unlike football, opinion doesn't mean sh*t. It is how fast and how far. I guess if one of them was Player of the Week, it is just because the team sucks, right No Facts?

You're such an odd little fella...bringing back a 15 month old thread, attempting to talk smack and then having to come back and edit it. Who is an elite player, Joeyblows? How many all-staters? I'll saying it again little fella - those kids should have been playing JV as sophs...ditto for the underclass QBs that have seen the field the last 3 years. Fortunately, Kearney has finally hired a HC to replace Jones - and I'm hearing that things are lining up to fix the QB position...that would go a long way to righting the ship.

All three were All state in track as Sophs. One is numero uno in the state in the hurdles as a junior and one has four D1 football offers already. So your no D1 talent assessment was just flatulence, like most of your condescending twaddle. Did the second team all conference but “first team all state TE” from Smithville go D1? Lol

By the way, Kearney just won state in track--and your question about the level of the athletes I mentioned previously? Answered. I suppose having the best athletes in the state and going 5-5 in football, proves JusDafax was right about the coaching they received on the FB field.
