Yes indeed, Kim Anderson will be the new head basketball coach @ Division 2 Pittsburg State. Kim's last day @ Missouri will be on April 4, 2017. We must wish Kim Anderson well @ his new position.

Will Kim take players from his former team @ Missouri?

Michael Porter Sr. will be an asst. coach @ Missouri next season. Michael's salary @ the University of Washington was $ 300,000 dollars this past year. I'm guessing Michael was able to negotiate an even bigger salary @ Missouri after getting a year's experience ( Mens basketball ) @ the University of Washington as an asst.

This Missouri situation is very interesting and could have a few more wrinkles as we move forward.

Or maybe he took a cut to come back home like his wife wanted him to do. :D

3Rfan, The dude was unemployed @ Washington but had another year on his $ 300,000 dollar contract @ Washington. I'm guessing if you are unemployed, Taking a cut in pay is possible. We must remember Romar was fired nine-ten months after Michael Porter Sr. was employed @ Washington.

Go Gorilla's and good luck to Coach Anderson

Seems like a good guy. Hopefully he can do there what he did at Central Missouri not what he did at Mizzou.

Kim Anderson will make Pittsburg State a contender very quickly. He has 5 soon to be seniors and 3 seniors leaving so he will be able to rebuild really quick. Look for Pittsburg State to win the MIAA very soon. Kim didn't stand a chance at Mizzou because of sanctions and the turmoil the football team created.

I think Haight had a lot to do with those problems

I wish him the best of luck, just not too much. He didn't have the success he had at Central without being a good coach. The combination of coming into a dumpster fire and not being able to recruit very well(or sign a top prospects dad), killed his time in COMO.

GO Mules.

I'm not sure if most of the kids he brought to Mizzou are good enough to start for a team good enough to make the D2 tourney.

It's trolling...but closer to the truth for some of these guys than we might think.

He ran off a guy good enough to start for the best team in the NCAA and replaced them with guys who shouldn't be starting in the MVC.

Did he run them off or did they want to leave? Big difference.

100% disagree. A good coach makes good players want to stay. It's a huge part of the job.

You can't keep everyone, I get that. For example, I really don't fault him for Biedscheid. No one appears able to control him. But the amount of talent that jumped ship was pretty incredible relative to what he brought in.

He's a great coach. I know from personal experience. Nicest guy as a coach also. He is another Norm Stewart.

That's fine that you feel that way, but you aren't suiting up for Mizzou any time soon. It doesn't matter how much you or I like him. It matters how the kids of 2017 feel about him.

That's funny because you aren't either. Do you even know Kim Anderson? It's funny that he won almost 300 games at CMSU/UCM and his players loved him.
I hope he does well.

No, I don't know him. But I've watched enough Mizzou games for the past two years to see how undertalented the team is. They didn't look badly coached from an Xs and Os standpoint. They just haven't had the horses.

I can also use the internet and see how people like JW3 are doing.

Not sure you can use the word great. He failed at Mizzou for a variety of reasons, some that were totally out of his control, but some blame must be put on his shoulders.

Tigers were not a bad defensive team. On offense, you can't coach them into making shots when they don't have talent.

96th adjusted D per Ken Pom.

I judge X's and O's by a coach putting his players in a position to succeed. Kim didn't do that. I'd say he did the opposite. Multiple losses to teams Mizzou was more talented than and puzzling rotations are the two most obvious points I'd make to that end.

Could it be that those guys would not obey the rules? He couldn't come in there when he did and let guys do whatever they wanted, on or off the court.

Ran the same offense as Bill Self.

You have to account for your personnel. Kim wasn't walking out there with Bill Self's team.

It is somewhat meaningless to say Coach X is running the same offense as Coach Y unless they are coaching the same group of players. I didn't see Josh Jackson suiting up for the Tigers. Nor did the Tigers shoot 40% from 3 as a team - the sort of thing that naturally spreads out the defense and which takes advantage of defenses which collapse towards players in the high or low post.

Somehow Mark Few can keep JW3 on the court. Yes, some of them were probably knuckleheads, but they lost way too many players for that to be a viable explanation for all of them.

Not every program and the microscope anthem that Mizzou did after all the crap that took place there. I'd bet there are many 'knuckleheads' playing for big time programs all over the country and get by with being knuckleheads.
