It looks a lot like Facebook. You can like posts and follow posters. When you post in a thread, when you return, it will take you to the first unread post automatically. You have several alert features in your profile, such as when someone likes you, when someone replies to a thread you posted in, when someone quotes your post etc. You will have the ability to link a post to Facebook or Twitter. You can inbed videos into your post. So far, it's a big improvement over the '90s technology.

Now for the not so great parts. Those who like topic view, sorry it's gone. The profile page is much different. For those who have sigs and avitars, you will have to reinstall them. No more HTML posting pics, gifs, and videos - you have to use the icons and put the link in there.

Overall, I really like the new format, but it will take some getting used to. I'll post other findings ITT as I think of them up to changeover day next week.

Yeeeeeaaaaah if you could just go ahead and do that......That would be great.

When I moved down here, at my new job they didn't have a stapler on my desk and none in supply. I took that opportunity to purchase the red Swingline. It was a few dollars more than the pedestrian model, but definately worth it.

A few more tidbits about the change:

When you type a reply, it will automatically save as a draft until you send it.

Probably not a big deal on this board, but there have been some complaints about how the new code uses thread titles in the URL. If you surf at work, IT will have an easier time tracking your every move.

Fan Pages will go away.

When someone clicks on your profile, they will be able to see your most recent activity (unless you disable) and every post you have made, ever.

Man, we've progressed from the days of the IP tracker. I sorta miss those. Oh well, guess I can live off of other tracking tail numbers of jets on coaching searches. That's fun too.

Incognito mode, as a layman, only keeps sites out of your history on that device. IT will see everything.

Will we finally have an archive that saves more than two days worth of posts? #calloutexperts

Hahaha no. I just frequent one of the National boards, and the roll out was there yesterday. If everything goes well there (and it has so far), look for the rollout to all the team sites next Monday night.

On the Mainboard, they have 27,xxx threads in the archive right now. They are claiming everything will be saved from this point forward.

One other discovery, when you delete a post, there's no trace left behind. So, when someone says something really outlandish, if they can get it deleted before someone replies to it (oh by the way, it quotes automatically now, and that message only, not a long string of quotes) they get away scott free.

Sadly true. If only we got cell service here at CHS. Gotta love the Ozarks.

I guess they just can't stand success. This board works just fine as is and even old coots like me can read and post here. I don't know I can even find a game score once they change it. if I wanted to chat with you guys on facebook I would have a facebook account, I do not. I guess I'll have try out semoball.

1) It's a Rivals-wide initiative. If it wasn't, I'm quite certain those in control here wouldn't change a thing.

2) Don't give up before you see it. It is really simple to use. The alerts feature is really nice - all you have to do to see any activity in threads you post in or even want to monitor is your avatar in the upper right corner (or not, which is nice too). Also, when you click on a thread you already have been in, it takes you to the 1st unread post. HUGE improvement there.

Yes, it has all the bells and whistles, but that doesn't mean you have to use them. Hope you give it a chance, as you are a good poster and would be missed. A big part of why I said anything is because of the culture shock this change will undoubtably cause on here. Hopefully I've alleviated at least a few concerns, and will check in all weekend to answer any questions I can.

Thanks cards, I'll give it a look but I don't even like thread view and that thing you showed on here looks like that. The way it is now is very simple but effective. Not everything needs changing. sounds to me like it will be a gotcha thang with every post being kept forever, especially on the PC board.

Will it be retroactive???

Just did a search on myself, and it only went back to the first of the year for threads by, and March for posts by. I have a hard time believing they can store that much data, but who knows.

Will there be a way to revert to the old format for awhile? Also, will this update/change the team schedules section? I really like being able to go back and see scores from seasons past.

Bottom line is, when we started on this board it was all new to us, so just pretend you are getting on a new board. I hate change as much as the next person, but...

That's site content. I wouldn't think that would be effected at all. Sorry, no switching back on the forum.

Personally will wait to see what happens (am very, very anti-Facebook and other social messaging sites of that sort) but definitely not liking what I am reading here....................before the change happens would like to hear from NWMO Pick Em players about my idea of moving to another popular regional site (just posted a request on that one). The prizes and format will remain the same.......

Maybe they'll lose a gazillion posters and rethink this "progress." Nah I reckon not. I'll give it look but that format looks crazy to me and I don't even know anything about the other stuff that is changing.

What a bunch of old fogies, get off my lawn types. This board has been YEARS behind better options. I haven't looked into the new change much but anything is better than the ancient setup this site has.

This site is about as anti-user friendly as it can get in this day and age. It has barely changed in 15 years.

Your day is coming Mr. I'm so cool.

Will the new site keep history of posts? That would be bad for certain posters that make claims and then when called on it play the "I never said that" card.

You should try Tigerboard. It's literally 1995 over there. You wouldn't believe it.

MoSooner I don't have an issue in the slightest about that part (controversial as it may be at times I am one to stand behind literally every word I have posted here whether some like it or not)...............I just don't want to find this being like primarly Facebook. As for the NWMO Pick Em deal I just want to be prepared in case I choose not to stay here.

On another front NOBODY I know is against progress just, only speaking for myself on this, don't want to see this become one of those gossipy social sites like (again) Facebook.
