If you have time, I'd like to hear your thoughts. I wrote a little about this subject in the North Carolina strand.

The US is going crazy over this stuff. Gender Equality, Transgender Equality, LGBT rights.
I had an old college professor in the 80's that had this kind of wierd Man Club he participated in...Not sure what the name of it was. At any rate it was kind of camp out with other men that sat around the fire, hunted, fished, got drunk, burned stuff, talked and did men stuff. This professor was a completely nuts over mens rights, and outspoken over issues that in our culture that were trying to make men into women....Not sure what this was. However, I never thought of him as a homosexual ( though boy scouts of this type are well publicized). I think was on to sumpin. Though I can't put to words what he was trying to accomplish.
At that time, the big buzz words were "male chavinist pig" or the fallout of the Archie Bunker Era. Men were supposed to be more like women, and those that weren't beat down and run out. This professor wanted everyone to know that he was going act like a male by GOD or high water.
Now we have several generations of kids that have been inculcated in a culture of acceptance, tolerance etc etc and those that don't conform suffer some really hard consequences in schools, the home, and work place. I'm not advocating insensitivity or intolerance, but the pendulum has swung pretty hard.
When I was kid, I was bullied by two older brothers. The Gallion brothers. I was in the 3rd grade and they were in 3rd and 5th. They used to beat me up at the bus stop, and when we were riding home from school, they'd say me "we'll give you a head start". I'd get off the bus and high tail sprint down the road, but the older one would tackle me. His favorite thing was to spit on me, and usually roll me in a pile of dog poop. I'd fight back. Cuss them out etc...this happened at least 3 times a month, depending on the weather and if I was quiet enough not to be noticed. As I got older and bigger in the 5th grade, the two brothers triedthis on me the second day of school. By this time I was stronger and as big as the 7th grader. In a beautiful moment of luck and Karma, I busted the oldest one right in the nose twice in row, and made him bleed. We got in one heck of fight in which I got hit, but held my own.
These days boys wuss out and kill themselves. Or cry to mama. Cry bully. And there are kid's that can't protect themself. Then there's the psycho idiots that bring a gun and kill for retribution. I was lucky to protect myself though I got pounded on the way, I played offensive line in college, so I was fairly strong. I never told my parent's about this, not even to this day. Bullying over looks the fact that sometimes guys need to get punched. It's part of life.
The irony of this story, is I have never considered the Gallion brothers bullies at all. It's just what we did. We beat the piss out of each other. We competed in everything from sports to doing stupid stuff I can't mention here. Kids these days are different.
