Final 4 needs to be rotated

away from Springpatch.

Move it closer to the teams that make it.
Where would that be, they come from every corner of the state. It was in Columbia which is about a close as you can get to the center. Maybe it should be in Cape, this quadrant has several of teams in it almost every year. But you have to have a place that is willing to host it and has the capacity to do so. I might even go back if it was in Cape. Ain't gonna make everybody happy.

According to the Springfeild Sports Commission.
“During the five years the basketball championships are in Springfield, more than 40,000 people will attend the events each year.”
I find this hard to believe but I still don’t see a town smaller than Springfeild hosting.

Here's a wildcard idea... do it like Kansas does. You could play all six titles in one weekend. Then you could leverage the college locations.
Also you wouldn't be playing games at 10 am or 8 p.m.
That said, playing in Springfield isn't too bad. It offers a neutral site since no local teams typically are playing or are at least competitive.

Probably makes too much sense to ever be considered.

Move it closer to the teams that make it.
This year so far:

Class 1 Girls 4th Place- Walnut Grove
HS located 24 miles northwest of JQH

Class 2 Boys State Champions- Norwood
HS is located 56 miles east of JQH

Class 2 Girls 3rd Place- Blue Eye
HS is located 57 miles south of JQH

Class 3 Girls State Champs- ElDorado Springs
HS is located 77 miles northwest of JQH

Class 3 Girls 3rd Place- Strafford
HS is located 13 miles northeast of JQH

Upcoming:

Class 5 Boys Final 4- Springfield Catholic
HS is located 6 miles east of JQH

Class 6 Boys Final 4- Nixa
HS is located 14 miles south of JQH

Class 6 Girls Final 4- Kickapoo
HS located 5 miles south of JQH

I’d say there are plenty of teams that “make it” that are close to Springfield if not in Springfield.

A very simple and common sence soultion would be to go back to 4 (FOUR) public school classes and only 1 (ONE) gym would be needed.
Four classes, each with one 1/4th of the schools.
Problem solved..!
Oh, what about private schools..? Let them have their own playoff system, but get them out of public school playoffs..

.....C =|~

In Idaho each class plays at a different location. You got Columbia and Springfield that have 2 gyms close together if you were going to stay on same campus. Kirksville don't have the space. No MIAA town going to have the room or gyms. We are lucky to have two places that can handle it. Otherwise, have different classes at different locations.

Joplin would have enough rooms and gyms.

You could use MSSU and Joplin High School, which looks like a college gym. They are 10 minutes apart. Webb City is a 3rd gym about 10 minutes the other way.

Why would they play the games at Joplin over Springfield?

I suspect that the OP was trolling but chalk this up as falling under the “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” category.

Springfield or CoMo are the best two places to host

I attended many of the games this past weekend and there was a nice crowd on hand for most of the games, pretty much relative to how big the respective schools and towns are.

There will be even more of a crowd this coming week especially since Catholic, Nixa and Kickapoo will have teams in it

I have no issues with Springfeild or CoMo. Just enjoying throwing out scenarios. Honestly I don’t know if Joplin has enough lodging.

I went to Northwest Missouri State and live not far from there now and there is no way in the world they could host a final 4. Not close to enough hotels and the facilities are not good enough. I love my school but no way could they host. We are driving 4 hours to watch our girls play Friday in Springfield and we were there last year. They do a fine job. I liked it when it was in Columbia too. It really have to be big enough and also small enough if that makes sense. The State final 4 would get lost in Saint Louis or KC. Honestly if you are looking for a place with enough hotels, how about Branson. However I doubt they have an arena to support that.

Joplin has plenty of lodging but it isn't exactly centrally located.

Branson is way too far out of the way, just like Joplin, Maryville, Kirksville, or Cape Girardeau would be. And no, there isn't anything close to adequate basketball venues in Branson to host the final four.

Rolla would be a great location if they had the basketball facilities to host it, but they don't. Probably not enough lodging either even with the new hotels they've built there recently.

It's either Springfield, CoMo, or Appleton City ;)

Springfield's biggest advantage is that the two gyms are literally right next each other, so if one game gets boring or lopsided you can just walk maybe 100' to get to the other gym.

Sprint center in KC is pretty nice. Pretty sure there are some nice gyms around there.

So you think finding a place within a few days of knowing who will make a final 4 is feasible? These universities, need contracts and to make sure their is no conflicts with their own schedules. It's a good thought, but no way that could happen. You could rotate it, but you can't predict who is going to the final four, so teams are always going to have to travel. If you are one of the lucky teams and communities to make the final 4, it doesn't matter, they are excited to be able to have a chance to play for a state championship.

I think it is perfect in Springfield & Columbia work's well too.

Springfield should open/reserve up a couple of parking lots, parking was ridiculous,. They should have allowed spectators to park in the one just East of the JQH. Otherwise, it is easy in & out & the gym is size is just right.
Columbia-parking is significantly better but the crowd noise gets lost in the rafters.
