We are planning on going on a field trip tomorrow and will be starting in Cameron. Then we will head west, Lathrop, Plattsburg, West and North Platte. Then head north, hoping to get some of the 8-man fields. It is going to be hot so not sure how far we will make. My younger son from East Buc will be going with us this trip. Will let everyone know when pictures are posted on Facebook.

When at West Platte check out the new softball and baseball fields along with the football. And if you are in Weston around lunch, go check out Tin Kitchen downtown. Really good BBQ. Give it a try
So what fields should we see? We have been to Lathrop, Plattsburg, North Platte, West Platte and DeKalb this morning. Heading to South Holt right now.
Well since your heading to Oregon might as well see everything in that area 8 man and 11. Not all are great but they are fields. From Oregon you got mound city Craig rock port Fairfax Monday Holt Maryville tarkio west nodawau north NorWAy South nodaway north Andrew I know some don't have Fb anymore but still have field.
West Platte football field is probably top 5 places we have ever seen and by far the best small school. I really liked the old field also. Baseball field is awesome. The brown turf looks so cool.

Tarkio has always had one of the nicer small school football stadiums in NWMO Imo. no fancy turf, but definitely nice.
They also bought the old rec center in town and put millions into purchasing and renovating the gymnasium in there. Since it’s during the week, it may be open to the public because part of the building is a public fitness center. They have a track around the top level of the gym as well.

Tarkio field did look nice and has a lot of seating. We did see the fitness center but did not go in. Who bought the old rec center?
That all use to be Tarkio College. Then it shut down in 1988? Tarkio Academy was next. School for jd boys. It shut down sometime in the 2000s. Now the town uses the gym as a rec center. High school uses the field. There was talk back in the late 90s the hs would have there own field. There was talk of having a trade school or college back there.
I believe the high school and the city each co-own the rec center as of now. Part of it is a fitness center, and the other part is the completely renovated gymnasium along with coaches offices and 4 locker rooms I believe.
And currently I believe the college is awaiting accreditation which has already been applied for to reopen the old Tarkio College as Tarkio Tech.
It would be a tech school offering courses in plumbing, and a few other things along with Wind Technology as a course. The companies who operate the local windmills would use this to coincide with their training programs I believe.
Did you go visit the extremely old football stadium behind the elementary there?? The bleachers are gone but the field itself with a gravel track around it and the goalposts are still standing. Kind of neat. They may still have the old scoreboard there. I forgot to check when I was up there a few months ago.
