Farm system rankings

Nevermind, I looked it up myself — #17 (previously #15). I still laugh to myself, when not too long ago, I heard it said that the only farm system less productive than the Cardinals was Oliver Wendell Douglas’ farm. Probably showing my age.

I’m well past that stage. I think the Fowler signing for that amount of $ and years put me beyond that threshold.
It’s easy to get stuck on the bad moves, and that one was certainly bad. Cecil and Gregerson were two more that were just brutally bad. But he is responsible for the abundance of good young arms that are in the system too. Flip side, he’s also the reason they were in the minors up until last week. Had Fowler not broken his foot, Mo would be the reason he’d still be in the lineup daily too. I feel like the Pham situation is directly on Mo too. I wasn’t for giving him a long-term deal, and I know Tommy turned down an offer. But they could’ve handled it better and gave him more cash in a one-yr to try to appease him a little. Dejong, Wong, Picotty deals all look pretty suspect especially when you consider how much club control remained. I wasn’t excited about the Ozuna deal, and he’s vastly underperforming, but Mo still didn’t give up much to get him. Not sure that’s a bad deal, just not a good one either. The most disappointing moves for me are all of the bad bullpen deals, the Pham situation and deal as a whole, obviously Fowler, and the Mercado trade. And I really don’t understand not flipping Norris and JMart at the deadline too. I just feel like Mo has become too conservative and is one of those guys that just stays in the missionary position.

Piscotty is playing pretty well for the As and we got Munoz and Schrok so that one looks like a win, win for both teams. We may end up being happy that we have Martinez and Norris down the stretch if we make a run at that last playoff spot. Big game today as we go for our 3rd series win in a row. Go Birds!
