Fair Grove, Lamar district football question

Am I reading MSHSAA correct and Fair Grove does not have a Week 9 football game?
It would be possible for Lamar to lose to Cassville and still leap over Fair Grove.

Fair Grove is out of reach IMO. Even with a max 13 point win over Cassville they would trail Fair Grove's current point total of 49.61 to Lamar's new total of 49.39 before figuring in opponent's records. It would take something close to all of Fair Grove's opponents during the season to all lose this week and Lamar's all win to make that jump. BTW, Fair Grove's opponent's record is already 5 games better than Lamar's for reference.

Fair Grove will only get the strength of schedule points.
Lamar will get a 1 point boost for playing up, plus the strength of schedule.
I am more amazed that FG doesn't have a game.

I already factored in the playing up (actually remains the same) and the max points win for Lamar. It's close, and comes down to opponent's records after this week. I believe with an all Big 8 schedule it will be impossible for Lamar to move past Fair Grove, but I've been wrong before. One thing's for certain, Lamar has to win convincingly to have any shot.

If Lamar were to win by 13 and there are no upsets from their opponents (2-7) is what I figured. According to my numbers they will finish with 49.87. Its going to be close, no matter what.. But I think its safe to say that they have to win.... I have been wrong before, but I do think it is possible.

FG playing up with Buffalo last week probably sealed the deal.
That is a fairly impressive win as well. Buffalo's schedule isn't overly tough, but to beat Buffalo by three scores is no small feat. Buffalo is athletic and fairly big. Fair Grove may actually be able to compete with Lamar, maybe win...

Ik its been posted before but what are the numbers for the formula again.

My sources tell me that Buffalo played that game without 4 of their 5 starting offensive linemen and without 2 of their 4 starting defensive linemen, so the Buffalo win doesn’t mean as much as some are making it out to be. And my sources weren’t just from Buffalo, they were from both sides.

I did not know that and that could definitely change things. Fair Grove is still really athletic.

I agree. I saw FG play earlier this season and they were very athletic at the skill positions with above average speed. I had them picked to lose buffalo based almost solely on the trenches. Buffalos offensive line is about as good as anywhere around but with those starters out the QB(smith kid) was flat out running for his life from what I was told.
If lamar is going to beat FG it’s going to be in the trenches. And I think they’re very capable of doing so.

Your record - 20 points for a win, 10 points for a loss, 15 points for an overtime loss / number of games played

plus

Your opponents record - figured the same way EXCEPT take out the games that you played with them

plus

Margin of victory or defeat to a max of 13 or -13 / number of games played

plus

Class multiplier - 10 points per class played up / number of games played

No problem. One other thing, as I go through certain situations over the past several years there are discrepancies I find from time to time. Just last night when I figured Fair Grove's points I came up with a slightly higher number than MSHSAA, yet Lamar's came out exact. Most of the time it can be traced back to an out of state team played (class multiplier issue), but there's a Fair Grove or two every year. .06 difference usually isn't a big deal, but it could be that close in this situation. I'll keep my eye on this one Friday night.

Hahahaha, hard to get much more first hand then being at the game, but hey I guess I should take your word for it, since you have several sources?

So whats the real scoop Flip?

No scoop.....I respectfully disagree with his sources. Same five starters on the offensive line as always (at least the same numbers) and three of the four same starters on the defensive line. Their regular DT started on offense, but did not start on defense. However he played both ways most of the game

Thanks for the response.

Well I was told 2 offensive linemen out to injury and 2 of them out to the flu or some kind of sickness and some of them were 2 way starters.
That’s what I’ve been told, my sources are quite reliable but maybe they just flat out lied to me for no reason. I was told this both before and after the game.

Maybe I am just ornery and thinking about CR too much, but right before districts maybe Buffalo had kids subbing wear the same jersey number as their usual starters to throw off a scouting...but who knows what was happening

Bison were missing many SR starters, No excuses FG had a great game plan and played very physical. Unfortunately some injuries were season ending from previous weeks. Im sure QB and rest of Bison will get back to work preparing for Districts. District FG and Lamar top heavy but Lamar plays tough games every week on their schedule.

It seems like I am lucky I guess. Must have been that .01% change of me being right you talked about. I dug out my pigskin preview where Coach Phillips talks about his offensive line being the strength of his football team. All 5 of those returners started and played, including the kid they had on the preview.

Turns out, judging by the other comments on the board, that it was just a good football game played by both teams. Sorry the team you picked didn't come out on top

I guess my sources were wrong

the guy just above you posted that the bison were missing many Senior starters, so I guess the offensive line was mostly intact and they were missing other players. Either way, Buffalo at full strength was not present Friday due to injuries, but that’s just part of the game.

So yes, offensive line was intact, rest of the team wasn’t, congratulations. My point has been proven just as much as yours.

By the rest of the team, did you mean their all area QB because he played (both ways) or their top RB and WR because they both played as well (both ways). I am not great at math but that seems to add up to 8 out of 11 that I can remember. The most important 8 players as well, as best as I could tell

I made it very clear in an earlier post that the QB played so idk where that’s coming from. Sorry to discount Fair Groves latest win. I know their strength of schedule is questionable so definitely need this win to be as impressive as possible.

Moving on.

Wrong #1 & 2 RB were out, TE out, all play both ways DE,LB,SS as well as our leading tackler at LB. All SR 3 had season ending injuries
