Don't think I want to purchase a Electric Car anytime soon. A less than decade old Car and you gotta drop another 22,000K into the thing YIKES. Even at independent garage 5K is steep IMO.

Non warranty battery replacement on the new model 3 is running $15,000-$17,000.

when the battery is done you throw it away or put a good 327 in it

I can't imagine electric cars can be big deal unless they can get the charging time down a LOT and make the batteries last a LONG time.

I do think in two car families in urban and the Burbs a EC is doable as a daily driver to work and to get grocery's etc, but a family would need a second car no doubt do to the Charging time and for any trips or when the car is charging. But for rural folks a Combustion engine is necessary no way a EC is practical. The big issue is maintenance is expense at a crazy level and there must be subsidy for them to be profitable.
