Early chicken and beer?

I don't get a good vibe off Lackey's body language the last 3-4 starts. I know his velocity is down, but it seems like he isn't totally with us. Am I imagining things?

Nope seemed like all he did tonight is complain. Going to be tough to win tomorrow with Cueto on the mound. Win or lose first time we have gone .500 on the road in a while, but would be a bad trip home!

We have to play a right fielder that can play defense and Wong has to stop fumbling easy DP balls. He makes the sensational plays but can't seem to get the easy ones to help his pitcher out. Did I hear the announcers say they gave a hit on the ball Wong fumbled trying to get the DP? There is NO way that can be a hit, he caught the ball then couldn't take it out of his glove to make a toss to Koz. You can't assume the DP but it had to be a error for not getting the out at 2nd. Did I mention the offense has gone to sleep again and their pitcher had TWO doubles.

I like his overall pissyness. I think something could be wrong, or his mechanics are jacked. Velocity down. Location sucks. He's never had terribly dominant stuff, but has been able to locate and make pitches. He can't keep the ball in the yard. I'm not sure it's him not being totally with us...but more of a dude completely frustrated. But I could be wrong.

Dude, if OT's gonna hit (and he's been hitting lately), he's gonna play. At least against righties. And he should. You pick out the most obscure stuff sometimes.

And that pitcher couldn't outrun me...if I were crawling...backwards...in a foot of snow. Simon might have been more surprised than anyone watching. That was comical to watch...and saddening at the same time.

He's a hard dude to read. We don't get much info about him or see him when he's not pitching. TV doesn't show him much in dugout. We do see other starters hanging together cheering on their counterparts. Don't know if he has become one of the group or not. We do need him to pitch better though. I was hoping his experience might help out down the stretch and into playoffs.

Typical case of the ball hit his bat, twice. Dude was like, "now what!" Just bad luck for Cards.

OT did cost them with his non-fielding. He's starting to figure out the stick but man he's weak on everything else. You're right though, if you can hit they'll put you out there. But I sure do like watching Grich in the field. Finally a guy who can get it AND throw it. Best OF arm on the team. It's fun watching a one hopper to the RH box at the plate.

Oh, I'm with ya. That throw he made two nights ago on the ball that skipped on him was impressive. Had to regain his balance, and still one hopped the righty box about a foot up the line. I like the idea of him and OT splitting time. If nothing else, it adds a bit of potential pop to what was an extremely popless bench for most of the season...Speaking of the bench, MM has trotted Ellis out the last two nights to PH. Just when I thought you guys had convinced me he wasn't the worst manager on the planet.

We have 5 outfielders that are hitting well, why not play one in RF that's hitting and plays good defense and has good arm? We all know Holliday is gonna play. None of them have been hotter than Grichuk when given the chance. Last I knew he was 10 for 23 since being recalled, no one else is doing that.

Grich can't hit righties, but yes roll him out there against lefties every chance you get.

Taveras drives me crazy. Today on a base hit with a runner on first in the 8th he came in, picked up the ball about 30 feet from 2nd and lobbed a bouncer to 2nd base. The runner was going to 3rd without a play but at least throw the ball to 2nd like you're interested in being on the field. I can't stand this lackadaisical crap. When he and Wong pop one up down the line they stand at home plate watching when they should be running just in case it's a fair ball. I hate that kind if stuff!

I think we will go on a run now that we are home, but I am worried about the end of the season road trip. We could drop right out of the playoffs if we continue to suck on the road.
