I like his overall pissyness. I think something could be wrong, or his mechanics are jacked. Velocity down. Location sucks. He's never had terribly dominant stuff, but has been able to locate and make pitches. He can't keep the ball in the yard. I'm not sure it's him not being totally with us...but more of a dude completely frustrated. But I could be wrong.Originally posted by Duck_walk:
I don't get a good vibe off Lackey's body language the last 3-4 starts. I know his velocity is down, but it seems like he isn't totally with us. Am I imagining things?
Dude, if OT's gonna hit (and he's been hitting lately), he's gonna play. At least against righties. And he should. You pick out the most obscure stuff sometimes.Originally posted by 3Rfan:
We have to play a right fielder that can play defense...

And that pitcher couldn't outrun me...if I were crawling...backwards...in a foot of snow. Simon might have been more surprised than anyone watching. That was comical to watch...and saddening at the same time.Originally posted by 3Rfan:
Did I mention the offense has gone to sleep again and their pitcher had TWO doubles.

He's a hard dude to read. We don't get much info about him or see him when he's not pitching. TV doesn't show him much in dugout. We do see other starters hanging together cheering on their counterparts. Don't know if he has become one of the group or not. We do need him to pitch better though. I was hoping his experience might help out down the stretch and into playoffs.Originally posted by Eagles_Ball:

Typical case of the ball hit his bat, twice. Dude was like, "now what!" Just bad luck for Cards.Originally posted by Eagles_Ball:

Oh, I'm with ya. That throw he made two nights ago on the ball that skipped on him was impressive. Had to regain his balance, and still one hopped the righty box about a foot up the line. I like the idea of him and OT splitting time. If nothing else, it adds a bit of potential pop to what was an extremely popless bench for most of the season...Speaking of the bench, MM has trotted Ellis out the last two nights to PH. Just when I thought you guys had convinced me he wasn't the worst manager on the planet.Originally posted by oldroundballer:
But I sure do like watching Grich in the field. Finally a guy who can get it AND throw it. Best OF arm on the team. It's fun watching a one hopper to the RH box at the plate.
