For months, analysts have been wondering if the economic hits farmers are taking might come back to bite the White House. Up to now, anecdotal reporting has shown little erosion of support for President Donald Trump and a survey from academics at Iowa State University of 700 farmers in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota seems to back that reporting.

The survey, led by ISU Professor Wendong Zhang, found that 57 percent of those farmers somewhat or strongly supported the U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods that brought retaliatory tariffs from the Chinese government. Another 14 percent had neutral feelings about them. Only 30 percent somewhat or strongly opposed the tariffs.

Farmers always have to overcome obstacles and know what investments are. Most see this tariff thing as an investment in the future.....as long as Trump sees it through.
The floods this year prevented a LOT of crops from being planted. That would have raised prices normally but the tariffs kind of equaled it out so, insurance and steady prices means it isn't a huge problem.

Corn and soybean prices peaked in 2012 and have been falling every year since then. Nothing but supply and demand at work.

My point was the polls show that Trump is not losing support unlike what Duck was posting. Like Miller said they will continue to support him if he sees this thru. I mean they are going thru some pain now nobody wants to see him give in now. Be like going thru football camp and all those two a days and practices only to realize your coach was going to forfeit the game in the end.

My wife can't stand him but, she likes what he does. She also sees what the press does to make him a villain.
I know SEVERAL lifelong Dems who voted for Trump partly because of Hillary but mostly because they liked his trade talk and other positions on issues. They voted for him not the party. After seeing what the Dems and press have done to their guy, they would be hard pressed to ever vote for the party of "the common man" again. They just blindly voted for Dems all their life but their eyes are now open to the "fake news".
I know MANY more like me who held their nose to vote for Trump who are very willing to vote for him again now and MANY others who voted third party who will now vote Trump.
The Dems have no idea what they have done to themselves with things like the Kavenaugh hearings and the fabricated racist/white supremacist charges.

Yeah you won't see any I support Trump bumper stickers on my car LOL. But I like more of what he is doing and saying than what the Dems are doing and saying. If one Dem candidate would come out against illegal immigration and not for giving illegal immigrants free health care I might start to listen to them. But right now that is a sticking point to me. I am not against immigration, I just know we have a crises at the boarder and the Dems are not offering any reasonable solution besides letting everybody cross that wants too and then paying for everything they need once here. We have citizens here already that we cannot afford to pay for how is adding more who have no means at this time to support themselves going to help?

The dems had a deal with Trump that would have given him about 20 billion for border security. Part was for new tech stuff to catch the drugs coming across the border in trucks and other vehicles, which is how the vast majority if it comes from, AND money for more fencing where it is needed. He agreed to it then backtracked before they could ever get a bill put together to make it happen because Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh said it was a bad deal.

Since when does a president get to make legislation and make it pass on to his desk. Do you think the dems will take over the senate in 2020 so they can do anything they want?

From 2012 to 2018 the production of soybeans in the US increased by 50%. Without a 50% increase in demand it’s sure fire junior high economics that price is going to collapse. Farmers brought it on themselves, let them go bankrupt. Production will go down and price will go back up
