Dominic Lovett was Mizzou’s best player.
So we sign “the prize recruit” Luther Burden, and plan our offense around getting Burden the ball as much as possible via passes, Jet sweeps, quick screens, punt returns, etc. What we find out is that he ain’t ready to be a star in the SEC but Lovett is.

Burden is physically weak, not explosively fast and has minimal YAC. Maybe he can get there with a strong off-season. But Lovett was already there and he is headed to Georgia where he is probably getting more NIL money also. Big time mishandled by Drink.

They went to the same high school.
You have to know Lovett isn’t going to appreciate the catering to a younger high school mate.

Lol... he's already stated that he's staying at MU. Burden is 18 years old playing against grown men. Force-feeding a WR is insane, especially when you drop as many passes as LB does. He'll develop into an absolute freak of nature, no doubt. But "develop" is the key word.

Mizzou needs to prioritize OL development in the portal. We have had disgraceful offensive line play for years now. Nothing else matters until we win the LOS.

The offensive line isn’t the one who missed a wide open five and out on 3rd and 4 in a crucial spot. And many others.

The offensive line isn’t the one who tries to compete with teams with monstrous running backs in the SEC with tiny transfers from Truman State.

O-line isn’t their only problem.

Freshman wrs rarely are bigtime playmakers in the sec. He needs time to develop. Lovett has some years under his belt. The oline has been a problem all year coupled with a d2 rb. Miz is what the record emulates...a 6-6 team before an exhibition game.

If freshmen are rarely big time playmakers in the SEC then stop catering to one and keep Lovett happy. Then you could have them both next year when they are both good.

You don’t get to call it an exhibition game when your coach runs around celebrating the victory that got them bowl eligible like Jim Valvano after Lorenzo Charles putback Dereck Whittenburgs prayer. And then said coach lights up a big ole Cuban and tweets it out. That dude obviously doesn’t view it as an exhibition. But hey, at least the players are home for Xmas. You know, instead of playing a game against KU that might’ve garnered the interest of more than a few hundred people. Such small time garbage.

Mizzou OL was hot trash all year.

That doesn’t excuse their other issues but anyone who doesn’t think this years OL was utter garbage is out to lunch.

He was 3rd in the SEC in receiving. He got the ball plenty. NIL wasn’t legal at the time of his recruitment. He wasn’t mishandled.
zt22 has a point... this sort of thing is going on all over the place. That being said if I was Lovett, I would transfer to a school that could effectively throw the FB. No doubt he has NFL aspirations.

Very glad to see him transfer to the Dawgs! He should help us contend for a national title again next year. Go Dawgs!!!

Yeah, having a QB that can actually throw a forward pass is kind of a thing if you’re a WR.

MU didn’t play KU because they would’ve likely lost the game. I bet ya they would’ve of. That’s what it really was. Drink is an ass. I’m not even a KU fan. Or a MU fan. I’m unbiased here. Drink is a loser. His behavior is god awful for a leader of young man. He’s not someone saying what he does on the internet, or at the bar. He’s a leader and doesn’t act like one. MU would’ve brought Kansas and Missouri together for a game. Instead of playing a team across the country in North Carolina. He could’ve played a state border war rivalry game. Let’s be real MU didn’t play well enough to deserve playing higher competition then KU anyhow. Wake was better in every measurable facet that day. I completely understand the KU fans mocking MU all that next week. Especially after his goofy sign at the basketball game as well.

Don't disagree but need to correct the last. The sign wasn't his. He was in the student section having fun with them and held up several signs of their's for picture taking opportunities.

Also actually kinda lucky they didn't schedule/get scheduled for the Liberty bowl. There's a severe water crisis in Memphis right now due to water main breaks with the brutal cold. While I haven't heard or seen, it wouldn't surprise me if the game is postponed or canceled. Hard to host a bowl game with no water pressure.

Arky (Down 16 players) beat kU*. Mizzou beat Arky.

Instead, mizzou fans got to go see their basketball team boatrace UK that day.

Thats basically the reason miz wanted to play in Florida on a different date. Their first choice was Vegas..second was Florida. Miz owes ku nothing and they'll see them in como in a few years. Regardless the conference has the most say who play who and where. Miz or any other sec conference member cant wave a magic wand and pick their bowl game.

If they wanted to play them, MU could’ve made it happen. And you’re right, they owe KU squat. But they also look like a bunch of bitches. Instead of playing KU in a bowl game that would’ve garnered a ton of attention and fan support, they go to Tampa and get slapped around by an ACC middling. In front of about 20 rabid fans. So freaking Mizzou.

If they wanted to play in Vegas they could of made it happen. Speculation is easy isnt it? Btw frozen Memphis<sunny Florida. Miz was down 3 defensive starters and Lovett and had a qb with a torn labrum. Wake has an NFL qb and were favored. Slapped around isnt accurate.

Excuses. Mizzou bitched out. Simple as that. And it’s completely their right to do so. But the deal is, Mizzou and a good deal of their fans have this complex. So they want to rationalize it. When in fact, the best thing to do would be to call it what it is…And that’s the most Mizzou fan ever statement. Not slapped around? Sure.

Here, lemme help. I’m a UK fan. MU hoops just bitch slapped Fat Cal and the Cats. It’s not hard if you don’t have this huge inferiority thing going on.

Who in their right minds CHOOSES to play in Memphis when you can play in Florida? Makes zero sense.

Slapped around is what UK got without 1 player.

Imagine having 3 or 4 starters out.

P.S. At least the MU vs WF game was in doubt through most of the contest. UK at Mizzou bball? Not at all.

Miz had the lead late in the 3rd..lost by 10. Hardly slapped around...thats what Tennessee did to Mizzou. No inferiority complex here...only ignorant speculation on your part.

All teams…literally every single team…has players out. Every. Single. One. MU isn’t special in that regard. It’s just an excuse in bowls. See, watch…

Yes, Stoops Troops got manhandled vs Iowa.

Fat Cals boys got curb stomped by Dennis and Co.

Those are the facts.

Lol. True. Mizzou was darned close to beating Wake (in your mind). Quite the accomplishment. Congrats on the (almost) .500 season. SEC, SEC!!!

Nobody had the talent sitting like the sec.

And sec still won the most bowl games.

You mad

SEC has also LOST the most bowl games(5) than all of the other conferences except the big 12 (6). And Mizzou was pathetic vs a mediocre Wake Forest team. So let’s calm down. Florida, Kentucky, and Ole Miss also stunk it up.

Those teams also lost a lot to the portal. I get it other conferences don't have as much of a problem.

WF scored with like 2 minutes left to go up 10.
WF beat FSU AT FSU and took Clemson to 2 or 3 OT.

it's ok ducky.
