Down year?

It seems like there are a lot of down teams in the SWMO area. I know there are a handful of good teams but overall seems down. I streamed games this weekend and there were a lot of tournaments I could hardly watch from last week.

Yes it seems like it. I don't even know who the best team would be.

Poo is 6 deep (really 5 1/2). Nixa should be it, but gotta keep girls from getting suspended. And Fair Grove is really gonna miss Green. Those are the 3 best, but all have huge holes.

That was basically CJ last year. Probably 4 1/2 players. As long as no one gets hurt it can work.

It is definitely a down year overall. Mansfield has dropped wayyyy down. In the SCA there are several down teams. Ava has fallen off a cliff. Houston has dropped way off. Cabool is even worse than normal. Salem appears to be really down.

What happened with Green?

The 2022 class was one of the deepest classes in SWMO in a long time, and with those girls gone, bball in the area is on a downhill trajectory, compounded by some teams not having enough players to field a team without consolidating with another school or even hanging it up mid season, as Mt Vernon did last season.

I also think more girls are into soccer and volleyball these days - if they are into sports at all - instead of bball

Will make for some interesting Holiday Tournaments. I know the 16 team WG tournament usually only have about 2-3 teams with a realistic chance of winning. This year you have 7 or 8 who could win it. No dominant teams but some pretty good ones.

Walnut Grove
Marionville
Blue Eye
Morrisville
Fordland
Sparta
Miller
Ash Grove

It's not just SWMO that is down. In the eastern half of the state, club volleyball in the winter has taken over. I see more schools without JVs in basketball, and many bigger schools that aren't very good.
Girls don't want to run or put in the work for basketball. It's much easier to go from the fall HS VB season straight into winter club season, practice once a week and play tournaments on weekends.

I am not sure how good Ozark is but this seems impressive. I think Marshfield will win their district.

COC girls basketball is down quite a bit this year. Nixa will probably win the league by default.

And it continues. I’ve seen some bad teams that have winning records because the teams they play are somehow worse. I may save my money during holiday tournaments this year.

I think the only COC win tonight was Neosho against Monett. CJ, Republic, Webb and Willard all lost and only Republic was competitive.
