Donaldson signed with the Braves

I understand the fear of injury at that price. But it's 1 year. 1 year of the guy that organization has stalked for a few years now.

Laughable.... Because I haven't seen anywhere that the Cardinals even made a serious pursuit of him

Smh. Well I just know that when the dude is healthy he is a force, he plays hard and is the kind of player we use to sign. Not any more.
Our "big splash" will be another damn over the hill relief pitcher.

I always see them linked to Goldy. But that could be damaging, because I don't see him signing an extension. He's never hit FA, because he signed his 5 year deal with Arizona to avoid arbitration

He's going to want to go into FA with the Yankees looking to spend big again

If we trade for him I assume that would mean Carp plays third which is not good.

It would be good for laughs....

As a baseball fan in general, it would be ugly. You either make him play crap defense elsewhere or trade him....and piss off part of the fanbase

I believe this is another miss by MO. Hey I hear construction at ballpark village is going well.

One yr seems like a no brainer. Sure would’ve liked it if the Birds signed him to that deal. Beats hell out of Moose.

The Commish with the Cards 3B options. This should ease the tension.

In an earlier Q&A he listed several reasons why Donaldson wasn't the answer to any of the Cards questions.

Hummel is great, but he's also pretty clueless. I love the guy, but he's out of touch. Just mentioning something like Arenado proves that point. The Moose thing does scare me. A lot. I'm shocked at the Donaldson miss truthfully. Only real option now, is Goldy trade and Marp at 3B. I can't imagine running Gyorko out there again. He's a great utility guy to get a lot of ABs, but struggle with him being a regular.

His comments about Donaldson being the biggest risk and "nobody should be paid more than Yadi (other than Harper) is proof enough to recognize how clueless Hummel is about this stuff.

Sounds like he wanted to be a Brave more than a Cardinal
Truthfully, I get it. Only way Birds could beat that was probably a 2 yr deal. Not sure that would’ve been good business. I’m interested to see what their actual offer was. It’ll eventually come out.

One year at 24 would have done the trick. SHOW ME THE MONEY.
