Bash republicans all you want, a lot of them deserve it and then some. But, I have never met an educator worth their salt that uses any form of the word "retard". That's pretty low, "bruh".
I have met tons. Retarded was a completely acceptable term used all over for decades. Then it was EMH. Now that’s unacceptable. My mom says “colored people” and I have been cringing about that for 30 years. But now the term “people of color” is used everywhere. In the mean time F bombs are used everywhere and people don’t even complain about them at all.
I have never referred to kids using that term.
But if u r an adult who hears the president admit his crime and you still say he didn’t do it, you have earned the label.
When I was still teaching, 6 years ago, the special needs teachers specifically tried to get their kids in my class because I always gave them special attention and made special modifications for all of them. So don’t judge a book, bruh.

I completely understand your issue with the Republican's putting their heads in the sand. I don't understand why your had to use that term.
Call it what you want but the pubs are bending over backwards to defend Trump and there is much video evidence that they don't really believe what they're saying now. I guess they have had an epiphany since the Clinton impeachment days. John McCain must be rolling over in his grave to see what his friend is doing now.
I guess I just ain't politically correct enough. What should it be called? Does mentally ill sound better? I don't think so. I saw a comment earlier about colored people and people of color. Colored people was used when I was a kid it was used only for black people people. People of color which is used now means black, brown and I assume it includes red and yellow.
One of the best bosses I ever had in my life was gay. He was a good friend of mine. More than one of my cousins are gay. I respect the hell out of them. Every now and then I will say “well that’s gay” when criticizing a decision that adversely effects me. It drives my daughter nuts. Does that mean I hate gay people or I am a homophobe? No it doesn’t.
It means I grew up in an era where that word was used all the time. People need to chill out. Saying an adult doing something inexplicably ignorant is “retarded” has absolutely nothing to do with special needs kids.

No, this is the typical response from white folks who have done something overtly racist but want to absolve themselves publicly so they claim, "I couldn't possibly be racist, I have a black friend."
But in your case it's "I couldn't possibly be an ableist bigot on the wrong side of history because I used to teach special needs kids and they loved me."
But it really makes no difference to me, I just find your overjustification funny. If you've done nothing to be ashamed of, who cares what anyone else says?
Primarily because I was a damn good teacher who GAF from day 1 until my last day and if anyone implies otherwise they need to be B-slapped.

Agreed. I'm not PC and I really don't care what you type or what comes out of your mouth. Like I said, if you don't feel ashamed of what you said or don't see (or care) how the use of that terminology could impact some of the very kids you used to teach, then why are you making such a concerted effort to "prove" you're not a bigot to a bunch of anonymous people on the internet?
