Bowl records by conference (based on win percentage) thru Jan. 2 bowls:

SEC 7-2 (78%)
MW 4-2 (67%)
Ind. 2-1 (67%)
Pac-12 4-3 (57%)
AAC 3-3 (50%)
SB 2-2 (50%)
Big Ten 4-5 (44%)
C-USA 3-4 (43%)
ACC 4-6 (40%)
MAC 2-3 (40%)
Big 12 1-5 (17%)

SEC as of yesterday was up 29-27 in head to head with the ACC over the last five seasons.

so that means the sec is better over a random time period you chose to compare. Got it.
Why five years? Why not 10? 20? 2?

and take away Clemson beating SC every year in an obvious mismatch and it’s even worse.

Big 12 has had it handed to them this year, in the bowl season, without doubt...

It is cool how this same board was making the argument that Bowl Records really dont make a difference in the past and how they dont really say anything about the league because of different variables. Awesome how that changes...... Same thing happens on the political board, I believe.

There is a skew when you do/don't have teams in the playoff. When SEC had 2 teams in the playoff it slid all members up a bowl and that had an effect. Pac 12 is only power 5 conference outside of the SEC to go above .500 this bowl season because oregon didn't make it in (IMO).

I don't recall anyone saying they don't matter.

You never replied as to what year you think OU would have won the SEC. Thanks.

The B1G signed a deal after the 2017 season to give them more favorable bowl match ups to try to help them have more post season success. It worked out well last year for them as they got more favorable opponents. This year it didn’t work.

I can only assume this is from my thinking that if the Sooners played in the SEC that they would contend most every year and would win their share of titles, but not be as dominant as they are in the Big12. I really dont think that is a homer statement... I never said they would have won a specific year. If they were playing in the SEC they would be a little different, most likely would recruit slightly different..... But if I had to pick a year, I would say two years ago. Sooners lost to Ga in double overtime, who lost to Bama in OT. Pretty even I would say, and if they played in the regular season, who knows how it would have turned out.... not saying they would have won the league, but there is certainly a real possibility.

Not to mention if Oklahoma joined the SEC they would likely be joined by either Texas or Oklahoma State. Who would more than likely be placed in the West and would bump Alabama and Auburn to the East and put Mizzou in the West where they belong.

East
Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

West

Arkansas
LSU
Mississippi
Mississippi State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas
Texas A&M

You seriously trying to say Oklahoma couldn't contend for the SEC West in that format? Only real challengers most years are LSU and Texas.

I can see that being competitive. You know enough about football to know what a season in a physical league will do to a team though.

Because that’s a relevant time frame???

While I do like the college playoffs and wish it would expand to 8 teams for fairness, the rest of the bowl games are now boring as hell.
Exactly what I thought. I used to watch a lot of them excitement. Now, I’ve hardly watched any. #TheyMatterLittle. Reminds me when NCAA basketball played the 3rd place game. Some were great games but very few watched.

All the bowls I watched, kids were playing hard with emotion and enthusiasm. But there are just so many bowl games it does make them less meaningful.

texas will never join the sec,in doing so they would have to give up the Longhorn network...never happen. texas and ou are joined at the hip wherever they go cuz of the rrr. osu wouldnt be invited to the sec cuz they add no viewership value. not enuff eyeballs in the state of Oklahoma.

So discussing how Oklahoma would do in the SEC is a complete waste of time.

But the SEC Network and the Shorthorn Network are both ESPN... If they wanted to throw enough money at it... they could make it happen. Its all about the $$$$

nope...wont happen. the big 12 wanted a network in the last round of realignments. texas balked..one of the reasons mizzou left. why give the competition any national exposure. remember tom Osbourne warned the big 8 what would happen if they let texas join the conference. he was correct

Oklahoma can't and won't go anywhere without OSU. Texas is too greedy to go.
