Do you think the Cardinals are seriously pursuing a star pitcher?

I think MO, like every other GM doing his job I would assume, is sitting back and waiting for the price to drop on one of them. BUT...I think MO is seriously concerned about...

Even with the loss of Shelby, there's still depth. But two of the above three go south, depth is gone and reality is...either...Gonzo, Lyons, and Garcia (if his shoulder is still attached) could all spend a bunch of time in the rotation. Probably not the most attractive of scenarios.
I don't think it'll happen. A deal for Price or Hammels would probably have to include either El Gallo or Gonzo. And in the case of Hammels, one of the outfielders as well. Juice isn't worth the squeeze, IMO.

I think Mo would do it if he gets the right deal. With 3 guys still on the market, I'm not sure it makes sense to strike first.
Mad Max is managed by Boros so it will be late Jan. or later before he signs because Scott goes for every penny and year available. Price probably not because of only 1 year of control. Hammels maybe depending what the Phillies want. To me Cole is the way to go if you could get him for Gonzalez and Piscotty, but that is not realistic. MO has to be worried about this pitching staff!!
Everything Mo says on their website indicates they will be looking for a veteran that could eat up innings but won't command a huge salary rather than a top of the line starter. Mo doesn't think it's that big of an issue for them to go crazy on a contract. He'll think differently if Wacha and Waino can't give him much and it'll be too late to sign a #1 or #2 kinda guy.
Hehe. That makes me giggle. Ruben Amaro could very well be the worst executive in all of pro sports. I'm sure he's not, but good golly. He took what Gillick built and just shat on it. He's gotta have compromising pics of the ownership group or something.
